Eagles' Odds, Ends, and Reminders

  • Code Yellow to a Code Red Drill: this week. We will start with Code Yellow and will move from a yellow to a red. Review procedures with students Monday. Let them know there will be a drill some time this week so they won't be frightened. It will be announced that it is a DRILL ahead of time. Teachers should have their phones on and ready to receive texts when we move to a drill. This will be the primary means of communication to classes in the event of an actual Code.
  • Fire Drill: This week; we will let Mrs. Dennis's class know ahead of time.
  • Late Bus Supervision: If you are responsible for coordinating late bus supervision during your assigned week, please plan ahead and make sure everyone on your supervision team knows the day he/she is responsible for and choose a location for students. Most days we will not need anyone for a late bus, but we do have occasional times when there is no driver and students are on a second load. The front office will call the coordinator as soon as the school is contacted about the late bus, and will alert the leader. Please let Johanna or Kyna know where the students should report. Teachers can tag team or take individual days. Again, most days it's not needed.
  • Secret Santa: Don't forget that Secret Santa officially kicked off last week (and runs through the 17th for those who are participating.
  • School Improvement Team Meeting (3:45) and the Grade Level Meetings (9:00, 12:00, 1:15, 2:15) will be on Thursday, 12/10.
  • Affidavits: We'll send out affidavit reports this week. Please start reminding (friendly reminders) to students/parents who haven't submitted theirs that the deadline is December 18th.
  • Tech Tuesdays: Tech training continue on Tuesday afternoons after school and feature a variety of topics. I encourage you to also check out tech training at Werz and RESA if you feel this is a need for you.
  • TKES Formative Assessments: Remember that you will not sign off on anything else in the future without your primary evaluator's assistance - even if you receive an automated email from the DOE. Please wait to sign off on anything unless you're with your assigned administrator.

Remember Our Goal: Connect with Five Students Daily

Connect with 5 students (include staff too) who add value by being in your life. Let them know how they make a positive difference in this world. Get to know their stories. Any random act of kindness goes a long way and makes an immediate impact. Kindness is contagious. By modeling this daily, we will begin to see a culture shift with our students. Exiting year to be an EAGLE. Together we're going to do great things!

“Wherever there is a human in need, there is an opportunity for kindness and to make a difference.”

—Kevin Heath (CEO More4kids)
