Transmissions

Syphilis is a sexually transmitted disease caused by bacteria called Spirochete

Symptoms

Primary:

-Red, firm and wet sores that are not painful that appear on the mouth, penis, rectum, and vagina.

Secondary:

- Will break out in a rash

-Will notice flu-like symptoms

Latent:

-All signs of the disease go away or "hide"

Tertiary:

-difficulty walking

-numbness

-gradual blindness

-possibly death

Treatments

For treatment, the doctor does a blood test to check for signs of infection. Syphilis can be cured with antibiotics. Although, during the late stage, Syphilis can not be treated.

Problems

- Can effect major organs

-Brain damage

-Major birth defects

-Increases of HIV due to easily entering with a sore present.

Prevention

-Use protection

-Do not have sex until rashes or other skin breaks are healed

-Just do not have sex in general
