FSC Principal's Update

April 15, 2022

Finneytown Families,

If you didn't get a chance to see The Sound of Music, it was incredible. Our students (cast and crew) as well as teachers/coaches did a phenomenal job. The adult choir added a nice touch as well. I was in awe of the talent and overall professionalism of the show. I looked up into the balcony at the choir on more than one occasion; they were that good!!

Testing is almost over!! We only have one more week (next Wednesday). Next week is science (Biology and 8th grade science only). If your child missed a testing day, they will be making that up during the school day. We only have 15 school days to make sure everybody is finished testing.

As always, if you have any questions, please reach out.

Staff Spotlight (Carolyn Althoff)

Greetings! I’m Carolyn Althoff, one of the art teachers here on the Secondary Campus. This is my 20th year here at Finneytown, which is very impressive as I’m only 27 years old :-)

I love the feeling of peace and contentment that comes with the art making process. It is my joy to help others have that aesthetic experience, which is why I chose and stayed within the realm of the classroom art teacher. My chosen media has changed through the years from painting, to weaving, sculptural book making, jewelry and fused glass. You may find me at local juried art shows showcasing and selling my fused glass creations, including Northminster most recently, and the upcoming Springfield Township Artisan Fair May 21. My business is called “Comingle Fused Glass”; please stop by and say ‘hi’!

Other interests include traveling [been to 23+ countries], reading [always have an electronic and audible book in process], and spending time with family and friends--especially my husband, Channon, and our pup Bo.

Go Wildcats!
