Principal's Message
In addition to the exciting month ahead, we also have two open positions for an Instructional Aide/Lunch Supervisor. This a five-day per week position from 11:15am-1:15pm that assists in supervising our students during their lunch times. If you would like more information regarding the positions, or to apply, please click here.
Have a great weekend and Go Bowmen!

No Visitor Policy
As we move through the year and work to ensure that our students are safe and healthy, SHS needs to adhere fully to our district's "no visitors policy". The policy is that no visitors are allowed inside our building (aside from quickly entering and exiting the main, attendance, and business offices) while students are present. For SHS, this means that no visitors may enter the building from 7:15am - 3:30 pm, and all meetings that need to occur are to be virtual over Zoom or Google Meets.
For a person or family who is not logistically able to attend the meeting virtually, please work with the meeting facilitator (Counselor, Learning Specialist, Administrator) to make the meeting accessible for you and your family. In-person meeting preference is not a reason for us to bypass this policy. Visitors include, but are not limited to, family members of students, vendors of goods and services, guest speakers, or anyone who is not a student or staff member.

2021 SHS Homecoming Dance "Dancing Through The Decades"
Our 2021 Homecoming Dance will be held outdoors at the SHS stadium on Saturday, October 16th, from 7:00pm-10:00pm.
Tickets will go on sale Monday, September 27th, and may be purchased at anytime through our online ticketing system, or before school, during lunch and after school at the Bookkeeper window near the front office. Students must be logged in to their Sherwood Google account to access the online ticketing system.
Tickets must be pre-purchased and will be sold until the end of late lunch on Thursday, October 14th. There will not be late or at-the-door ticket sales. Early bird tickets are $10 with an ASB sticker and $20 without the ASB sticker and are available through Friday, October 8th. On Monday, October 11th, the ticket price increases to $15 with an ASB sticker and $25 without the ASB sticker.
In the past, students have been required to be current on their school fees and Career Credit to attend the dance. For the 2021 Homecoming Dance, we will not have this requirement in place as we are returning to in-person instruction. These requirements will most likely return for our 2022 Prom and all dances in the future.
A few items to note for this year regarding the dance are:
- Only SHS students are allowed to attend the dance, guests are not permitted.
- SHS students must be on the ticket list and bring photo identification to enter. The physical tickets are only a memento.
- All participants will be subject to a breathalyzer to enter the dance and any purses or small bags are subject to search upon entry. Large bags are to be left at home or in a car. There will not be a coat or bag check.
ASB needs your help for Homecoming!
Parent volunteers needed for the Homecoming Parade! Come walk with the students after school on Friday, October 15th. The parade route will be approximately from the Charter School to the Middle School. Volunteers will need to submit a background check before the event. Parents are needed to help maintain distancing during the event and throw candy. In order for the parade to occur, we need at least 20 parent chaperones. If you are interested, please email SHSPSOvolunteers@gmail.com
Please be sure to fill out your background check asap. (You only need to fill it out once, no matter where you volunteer in the district.)

Picking up Students During School
If you need to pick up your student during school hours, it would be greatly appreciated if you can notify the attendance office in advance by sending your student with a signed note from the parent/guardian and have the student exchange it for a “release from class” pass at the attendance office, before school or during a passing time .
Parents, new this year, please report attendance absences to the following email address SherwoodHigh_Notification@sherwood.k12.or.us
Take some time to refresh yourself on our attendance policies here.
Safety
As a reminder, please have your student bring 3 masks to school daily. So that students have a back up in case their mask breaks, gets dirty, or lost.

There is no stopping or student dropoff or pick up on the driveway into the parking lot. All student dropoff and pickup needs to occur in the area in front of the school. (see the diagram below)
Vary dropoff times before school to avoid the congestion from 8:10-8:25
Vary pickup times afterschool to avoid the congestion from 3:20-3:35
Consider dropping off students in upper parking lot and enter the school through the commons
If possible, approach the school from the North on Elwert to avoid congestion at 99W and the roundabout
