Tecumseh Local School App

Please take a minute and download the App to your phone. This will help you stay connected to what is going on in our district and school. Thank you.

You can NOW add your student absences on the APP too. Go to the App, then to NCES, then choose Forms. Fill it out and it goes directly to the office staff. It is available 24 hours a day.

This is a very handy way to have this at your fingertips.

NCES has an Instagram account. Please follow us to see the fun and educational happenings at New Carlisle Elementary School. Tell your friends and family to join us too. I try to post pictures almost daily.

New Carlisle Elementary has a Twitter page. Feel free to join @ArrowsNces, to see what is going on at NCES.

Return to School February 1

February 1, 2021 is quickly approaching! The staff, and teachers are looking forward to seeing all the students back together in our building daily. We have waiting a long time for this. It has been very tough for all of us to maneuver through remote, virtual and hybrid learning. We will continue to do our best and try to work together as a team with families to do what is best for our students. The students need to get back to a regular school schedule and see their teachers, counselors and staff they engage with, daily.

The month of February is almost here! Here is our updated plan: Wednesday's be continue to be remote days. All students who have been a part of Cohort A and Cohort B and attending school in person will come to school in person Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. If your child has opted to be a virtual student learner for the 3rd Quarter they will remain virtual.

Again, we are excited to see everyone together! We will continue to keep our protocols of extra cleaning, social distancing, hand washing and wearing masks to maintain the health and safety of our staff and students.

If you have any questions please reach out to the office so we can help.

Coats for the Weather - It's Cold Outside!

Many children are not dressing appropriately for the weather. Please make sure to send your child with a weather appropriate coat. We go out for recess at 20 degrees or above including the windchill. We are out for at least 20 minutes. It is important for the students to run around and get fresh air. We also have fire drills and other times teachers take the students outside throughout the year. Many are just wearing a hoodie. If you are in need of a coat or gloves please contact the office and we can help out.

NNAT Testing

Tecumseh Local Students in the 2nd and 4th Grades will be taking the NNAT (Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test) test the week of Feb. 1-5. This is a short 20 minute test. This is a nonverbal test used for qualifying K-12 students for gifted and talented programs. It is a group administered test. The NNAT utilizes shapes and figures to evaluate problem solving and reasoning abilities of a child without relying on their language skills.

If your child is a virtual student we will be testing them on Feb. 3 (Wednesday). There will be no other students in the building. We need for you to drop your child off at the front doors of NCES at 9:00 and pick them up at 10:00. During that time we will space the students out and administer the test. The students will be expected to wear a mask the time they are here.

If you have any questions please call the office and we so we can help.

Positive Referrals

The students at NCES are able to receive positive referrals from staff for going above and beyond. We are so proud of our students who have earned positive referrals during the month.

When students receive a positive referral their photo is taken, the receive a bracelet, candy or a pencil. Additionally, students receiving positive referrals are honored as we hang their photo in the hallway of each student receiving a positive office referral and these students are also honored on our morning announcements which can be viewed on our Youtube channel, and their pictures scroll on the TV in the office. It is really exciting for our students.

Tecumseh Education Connection

The Education Connection is a telephone number that you can call 24-hours a day to listen to your child’s homework assignments, report your child’s absence, hear the lunch menu, find out the scores of the big game, hear about school closings and leave a private message for a staff member.

You will still need to call your child in if they will not be attending school, or doing their online work for the day. We will still need to document attendance. We are marking students with green, yellow and red attendance.

Please use the TEC number for:

  • Calling your child in sick.
  • Leave a voicemail with questions.
  • 937-845-4483

We now have Latchkey at NCES. Please take advantage of the fun and learning that takes place each and every day in our Latchkey Program. It is open from 7:00am.- 5:30 pm daily for your convenience.

Arrival and Dismissal at NCES

Arrival - Please drop off all students at the front door by 8:30 to make a shuttle bus. Students are not able to enter the building prior to 8:30. If your child is having breakfast they can also enter at this time. If your child is NOT eating breakfast at school they can arrive at 8:55.

Dismissal - All students will be picked up using the curb lane. This is a safety concern for our students. It is also another way to continue social distancing.

Thank you for your cooperation. Our students safety is our highest concern.

Boxtops for Education

Please continue to send in Boxtops for Education. We use these funds to help buy items for the children to help support their activities that take place here at NCES. Please keep saving and sending the Boxtops and Campbell’s label proofs into school as you collect them.
