DHS Weekly Update
Thursday, August 5, 2021
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
DHS Families,
We have had a fantastic three days! I hope your students have acclimated well to being back in the building (and to waking up early)! The service times in the cafeteria have improved all week and the Food and Nutrition Department is continuing to make changes in order to get our students through the lines as quickly as possible. Because of our COVID mitigation, water fountains are still not being used; however, our water bottle fillers are. Please have your student come to school with a refillable bottle so they have access to water throughout the day.
The Athletics and Activities Department has our Homecoming football game scheduled for Sept. 17th. This is also one of our early release days and the Friday before September break so please plan ahead so you can join us. We will be having Homecoming activities all week ending with a parade and football game on Friday. We will not be having a Homecoming dance this year but we hope to have something in the spring.
Thanks again for all of your support as we kicked off our school year!
Rochelle L. Lofstrand, Principal

Student ID Cards
City Schools of Decatur will be implementing new student ID cards for the 2021-2022 school year. All CSD students will be issued cards this week at their schools. The cards will be used in the school cafeteria as a way for students to pay for school meals and as a way to track your student on our new bus tracking system, “Here comes the bus.” The First Phase of the card implementation will be the school nutrition department using the ID card as a contactless way to pay for meals. Our hope is that the practice of contactless payment will assist in our efforts of preventing the spread of COVID 19. In order for your students to purchase meals or extra items in the cafeteria, you will need to put funds on your students account within infinite campus. If your student is not planning to purchase items outside of lunch, you do not have to add money to your student's account because all students will eat at no cost this school year.
Please visit our website for guidance on how to add money to your child’s account. The process for students to pay for meals will be as follows: Students will scan their own ID card in the school cafeteria at meal time. The nutrition cashier will be able to charge the student based on their personal information that comes up in the cashier register system. We will begin using the student ID cards in all schools when school starts. Students will need to bring their card to school daily.
The second phase of implementing the student ID cards is the app called “Here Come the Bus”. Students will scan the cards as they enter the school bus. This will allow parents to track their students on our new app. Please expect additional communication related to Phase 2 of the student ID card in the near future.
Please contact the Nutrition department at meals@csdecatur.net or 470) 237-0368 ext. 7607 or the Transportation department for additional questions.
