Sky Hawk News for Parents/Guardians
Week of November 9 - 13, 2020
Sky Hawk Families:
Our weekly academic tip is for you to encourage your student to do a weekly grade check on Wednesdays (Early Release Day). They should go through each course to be sure they have all of their assignments submitted, and they should reach out to their teachers if they see any errors. Have them check their upcoming events on their calendars as well!
We are seeing an increase of students watching movies on Netflix, Disney, etc. while they are at home. Please help us by reminding your student they should be logged into their Teams meeting and should be focused on teacher instruction and their assignments. School issued Chromebooks are for academic use only. The guidelines for Chromebook usage are stated in the policy each family signed for when the device was issued.
The in-person students are doing a WONDERFUL job keeping their face masks on all day! We know this is not ideal, but we are so proud of them. Thank you for sending your kids prepared and for helping to keep our school safe and open!

PVMS Band Update
BAND 1 students can play 5 notes now and have enjoyed some fun theme weeks such as "Rock-tober" and "Movie week". During those weeks they learned to play "We will Rock You" and the movie theme song from JAWS. Our BAND 2 and 3 students have been learning a new scale each week as well as new challenging selections from their books. One of our favorite pieces this year has been "Short Pierre". Here's a practice track Mrs. Leggitt made for the students to play along at homeGifted and Talented Program

Check In/Out Process
We are trying to limit contact this year and that includes our check in/out process. We are eliminating the use of pen and paper to reduce transmission of germs. This year, we ask that you please use the check in/out form on the PVMS app. We also have a QR code you can scan posted on the front door. Please step into the lobby so we know you are here and be prepared to show ID if asked. We do not have windows in our front office to see the parking lot, so you will need to come in to pick up your student.
Hearing and Vision Screenings
Virtual Students screenings will be rescheduled for another date! Nurse Kami will contact parents who have called to make appointments.
