COVID Preparedness Plan; Planning for a Return to School, Fall 2021
Masks: You might want to add "masks" to the school supply list this year. While we will certainly give out masks to students who do not bring one, this is not something that we can do every single day. We simply do not have an unlimited supply of masks. Your help in making sure that students come to school with a mask is needed. If you'd like to donate masks to the office and/or your child's classroom, please know we would welcome any/all donations.
Current District 77 Health Guidance (Click Here) are from the Minnesota Department of Health Best Practices for COVID-19 Prevention in Schools and the Centers for Disease Control - Guidance for COVID-19 Prevention in K-12 Schools.
Entrance Conference Sign up
Here are the steps for finding out your child’s teacher and signing up for your child’s entrance conference. Conferences will be IN PERSON.
1. Go to the ISD 77 website (www.isd77.org). Follow this path - Click on “Schools”; “Jefferson”; “Families”; then click on “Parent Portal”.
2. Create or Update Parent Portal Account.
If you already have an account, be sure you can log-in. If you do not remember your username and password, you could recover it directly through the portal. If this doesn't work, please send an email to ICSUPPORT@ISD77.ORG. If you have not yet set up an account, you again can contact ICSUPPORT@ISD77.ORG. They can provide you with the information needed to set-up your account or you can contact the Jefferson School Office and they will assist you. Please call 507-388-5480.
3. Complete Census Verification. The Census Verification link in the Parent Portal will walk you through the process. This is a critical step as it replaces paperwork that was completed in past years and provides us with valuable information should we need to contact you should an emergency arise.
4. Sign up for a conference using the PTCfast online sign up system. Steps 1-3 MUST be completed in order to do this step.
Link for Conference sign up : https://www.ptcfast.com/schools/Jefferson_Elementary_8
5. If you do not have access to a computer, or if you need help with any of these steps, please stop by our Jefferson Office or call 507-388-5480.
School pictures will NOT be taken at Entrance Conferences. Picture day has been set for Wednesday, September 21st during the school day.

Procedures for Arrival, Dismissal; What we need from Students and Parents to Create Safe Transitions to and From School
Drop-Off / Pick-Up / Parking Procedures:
A.M. Drop-Off: Parents who drive their children to school should drop them off between 7:30 - 8:00 using the loop at the south end of the Jefferson campus. Use Fairfield Avenue to access the Pick-Up / Drop-Off loop. Please DO NOT drop students off at the main entrance before 8:00.
Students should go directly to the playground. If you student would like breakfast in the morning they will be dismissed to go for breakfast at 7:35.
*Exception - On the first day of school, kindergarten parents may park in the main parking lot for their children's official First Day. More details regarding first day arrival procedures for kindergarten students will be shared during Entrance Conferences.
P.M. Pick-Up: Beginning at 2:30 parents should use the loop accessible from Fairfield Avenue to pick up their children. Please DO NOT use the front parking lot / main entrance at this time. Reducing traffic in our main parking lot immediately after dismissal creates a safer situation for our students riding buses and walking home.
Parents who park in the main lot during this time will be asked to use the parent pick-up loop at the other end of the building. Each family is assigned a pick-up number which they are asked to have displayed in their vehicles as they enter the pick-up loop. These numbers will be communicated to families during Entrance Conferences and sent home with students on the first day.
Visiting the School: Because the state's Safe Schools Plan recommends "Restricting nonessential visitors, volunteers, and activities involving external groups or organizations," we will be limiting access to the building throughout the school year. This doesn't mean we won't have parent volunteers this year, but it does mean visitor access will be monitored closely.
Any adult entering the building needs to visit the office and follow school sign-in procedures. State Statute 609.605 subd.IV
Picking Up Your Child During the School Day: If you need to pick up your child before the end of the school day, please contact the school office prior to your arrival. We will get your child ready to go. When you arrive you can either call the office to ask for someone to walk your child out to you, or you can ring the buzzer at the front door and wait for your child to meet you there.
Attendance: Please call the school office at 388-5480 or the Health Line at 388-2854 if your child is sick or is going to miss school.
Medication: If your child needs to take, or keep, medication at school, please contact our Health Assistant, Mrs. Nessler. We are not allowed to give medication at school without the appropriate documentation from a physician.
