Recommended Changes to State Testing

In the fall, districts were asked to complete a survey from the ODE about the types of assessments given, for what purposes and the time involved in practicing for and administering them. After compiling the data, Dr. Richard Ross, the State Superintendent, presented his findings as well as recommended changes to Governor Kasich. You may find the entire report here: https://education.ohio.gov/getattachment/Topics/Testing/Ohio-s-State-Tests/Testing-Report-and-Recommendations-2015.pdf.aspx.

Many of the changes require legislative action, so they are merely recommendations right now. We will keep you posted on any confirmed changes as they develop.

State Testing Dress Rehearsal

Next week, the state has set aside time for districts to do an infrastructure trial, or dress rehearsal, of the PARCC testing platform. This is a low stakes way of making sure our system can support the load of online testing and work out any problems in advance. We are in the process of completing the technology setup and registration process that will allow us to participate in this dress rehearsal. As details are ironed out, you may be asked to play a part. The commitment will be small, but the payoff will be great! Thank you in advance for your support of this trial.
