Thoughts from Dr. Pacatte
Parent Teacher Organization
This week, I was able to attend the first PTO meeting of the new school year. The D56 PTO is an amazing group of parents who provide support for our students and staff in many different ways. Yes, our PTO does do some fundraising to support special events, class parties, or purchases, yet more importantly, they provide opportunities for our families to participate in special activities as a community. Prior to the pandemic, the PTO hosted movie nights, play dates here at our schools, and events hosted off campus. This year, they are bringing back many of these special events, so please keep your eyes open for information throughout the school year. Coming up, a special fall event held at Kroll's Farm is back! Kroll's Harvest Farm is a wonderful night for traditional fall activities like hay rides, a corn maze, and pumpkins! This is an opportunity for our families to get out of their houses and come together for some fun.
During the development of our 5 Year Strategic Plan, community members spoke of the need for the school to help rebuild the sense of community that was impacted by the quarantine. Thank you to our PTO for getting the ball rolling!
If you are interested in helping out our PTO, please go to their website at https://www.d56pto.org and let them know. They can always use volunteers for things big and small. PTO helps to create the partnership between school and home.

This means 56 students will be able to focus on their assignments and not have to worry if they have the materials they need to complete their work.
