From the Secretary
The month of March reminds us that it’s time to register for Kindergarten! Packets will be available here at Lake Street School, as well as our websites. Please feel free to call me in the office at 860-870-6085 if you have any other questions.
Please remember to give the office any updates to any changes to your address or phone numbers. It’s very important to have this information up to date in an emergency situation.
Changes in Dismissal Procedures
Your cooperation is appreciated!
The Nurse's Corner
I would like to inform the 5th grade parents that the Annual Postural Screening (Scoliosis) for girls will be conducted during the month of April. The purpose of this screening is to recognize scoliosis at its earliest stages, so the determination for the need of treatment can be made. Examinations will be done by the school nurse.
The procedure for the screening is a simple one. The nurse will examine the student’s spine as the student bends forward. If a problem (spinal variation) is detected, a second screening will be performed, parents will be notified, and a referral to their own physician will be done.
A Postural Screening (Scoliosis) Parent Letter will be sent home this month. Please read it carefully and return the bottom portion to the nurse’s office.
At the Health Office, we are in need of children’s clothes, especially boy’s pants sizes 3-10. Any donations will be really appreciated.
Please, do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. You can reach me at 860-870-6088 during school hours.

Attendance
Research shows that students with good attendance do well in school. Our goal each month is 96% student attendance. Here's where we stand so far:
Aug.-98.8%
Sept.- 97.6%
Oct.-96.4%
Nov.- 95.6%
Dec.- 96.8%
Jan.- 94.9%
Feb.- 96.3%
Students need to be in school on time to start their day right and ensure that they are getting everything that they need. Please do the best you can to get your child/ren to school on time.
From our Family Liason
Thank you to all of the families that were able to participate in our Art Trivia this past month!
We hope you enjoyed it. Thank you to Mrs. McCann and Mrs. Paullisky for picking out the names of the winners. The winners of the raffle price for the Art Trivia are:
Charlotte Perron from Pre-K and
Callie Boyajian from Kindergarten.
Congratulations!!
We will have the next trivia next week. To celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday, we will be learning about Dr. Seuss and his books. The trivia answers for this month will be found in the following books (or movies): The Cat in the Hat, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Oh, the Places You’ll Go! and The Lorax.
Have fun!!
