Miller Weekly Update
Week of October 25, 2020
Principal's Message
Dear Miller School Parents, Teachers and Students,
It was such a pleasure to have our students back in school this week with our teachers. The presence of everyone walking the halls, working in classrooms and eating in the cafeteria made us all have that great feeling again. The students and teachers did a great job with teaching and learning while also maintaining a safe and healthy environment. Although there have been some technical issues at times our staff is working hard to be sure these issues are resolved. Also, this serves as a reminder that an Emergency Contact sheet and a Parent Affirmation of Student Health sheet was sent home for you to read carefully and complete. Once you provide the requested information please have your child return them to your teacher as soon as possible. Remember that Tuesday November 3rd is an all virtual day as some of our schools also serve as polling places for the annual election. I hope the first week of phase 3 of in person instruction was successful for you as it was for us and we look forward to many more days of working with you and your children.
Happy Halloween,
Jim Battersby

Respect Week Was A Hit!
October was a busy month in the counseling department! Respect Week ran from October 5th to October 9th, Safe Schools Week from October 19th to October 23rd, and Red Ribbon Week from October 26th to October 30th. In celebration of Respect Week the counselors provided virtual classroom lessons all about respect. Our life skill of the month was also Respect! The goal of the Safe Schools Week campaign is to motivate students, parents and community residents, to advocate school safety. The counselors created daily videos that covered 5 core parts of school safety: physical, classroom/online, emotional, identity, and empowerment. Each day a portion of The Pledge for Safe Schools was posted on the counselors google classrooms. Teachers were also provided information on trends and warning signs of school violence. In recognition of Red Ribbon Week we had theme dress up days to support the full potential of a healthy, drug free lifestyle. Thanks to all of those who participated and supported our events!
