24th ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT IS OCTOBER 7TH - GOLFERS AND VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
ALL FAMILIES ARE ENCOURAGED TO PURCHASE SCRIP
We encourage all of our families to commit to purchasing $200 worth of Scrip per month, (what most families spend on groceries each month, at least!). Check out the order form below, and sent home in your Wednesday envelope each week, to see the variety that we offer. If we do not have it on hand, we can usually get it within 1 week. Try making a Scrip purchase today!
BiG THINGS ARE HAPPENING WITH SCRIP!
Between now and September 14, 2019, every scrip order of $50, or more, gives St. Joseph School a chance to win free shipping for one year. This is the best time to try out scrip. It is still a win/win for everyone and with the added bonus of a chance for free shipping, even better. Start out the school year with a Scrip purchase. You just may get hooked. (Stay tuned for more information on how you can pay for Scrip with your credit card).
Health and Safety
MEDICATION ON CAMPUS
MEDICATION: ALL PRESCRIPTION MEDICATION MUST HAVE A DOCTOR’S AUTHORIZTION – NO EXCEPTIONS. This is true for both long term and temporary medications, (i.e. antibiotics, etc…). Please refer to the Parent/Student handbook concerning the proper authorization needed for all medications to be administered during school hours. An example of the form required for any and all medication that needs to be administered during school hours may be found below and at the back of the handbook. You may also print copies of this page from the website
.
IF YOUR CHILD HAS BEEN PRESCRIBED AN EPI PEN - ALLERGY ALERT: If your child has a severe allergy to anything that they may be exposed to at school, it is very important that we have an medically provided Allergy Action Plan as well as an Epi-pen in the office for them. Any child with moderate to severe allergies should always have medication in the office for use in urgent or emergency situations. See paragraph above for what is required to have medication for your child on campus. Please call the office with any questions.
COUGH DROPS: Cough drops are considered medication and must be brought to the office, by an adult, and accompanied by a completed Cough Drop Authorization Form. A copy of this form is also located below.
CROSSWALK REMINDER
Please remember to always use the crosswalk when coming onto or exiting the school grounds. It is very dangerous to walk between parked or moving cars.
NO PARKING ALONG ST. JOSEPH TERRACE
This is the road that runs behind the 1-4 grade classrooms. Please, there is no parking along the fence by the picnic tables on this road no matter the time of day. Also, please do not park in any space that is marked as “No Parking”. Thank you.
PLEASE HELP US TO BE GOOD NEIGHBORS
The Dominican Sisters request that parents not use their property as an exit. They also request that SJS parents not use their parking lot without prior permission. This includes picking up or dropping off your student/s. We only have permission for Transitional-Kindergarten parents and staff to park there on a regular basis and they have been issued special parking permits. Thank you.
HOT LUNCH NEWS
Please visit Choicelunch.com to order your student hot lunches. Shannon Ramirez is our hot lunch coordinator and parent helpers are needed. Please email Shannon at sfaithramirez@gmail.com if you are interested in receiving more information or to volunteer. Please see the school Handbook for more info. PLEASE NOTE: Payments are not accepted at the lunch counter. Emergency lunches are NOT available.
REGARDING MONEY, (CASH OR CHECKS), SUBMITTED VIA YOUR FAMILY ENVELOPE
Please be sure to attach your check or cash, with a staple if possible, to the form that it belongs with. If you have no form, please put your payment in an envelope and clearly mark on the outside indicating whom it is from and what it is for. We also ask that you not combine payments that are for different things (i.e.: Kid’s Club and a field trip, class supplies, etc.…). This would really help our office out a great deal. Thank you.
CORRECTED CALENDAR HIGHLIGHTS

Your parent hour log for September is in your envelope today and attached below.
PARENT HELPERS ARE NEEDED - EARN PARENT HOURS
PARENT HOURS
Single parents, who assume the obligation of Parent Participation alone, need to submit a letter or e-mail to Mrs. Calton requesting this consideration. Otherwise we will assume both parents are involved with the child/ren and full hours will be required.
ALL DURING SCHOOL HOURS VOLUNTEERS
Please remember to sign into the volunteer log in the office. This log is not for keeping track of hours; it is to put you on our insurance while you volunteer. It is also to let us know who is here in the event of an emergency. Please be sure to put in the time that you arrive and the time that you leave. You will be issued a name tag and we ask that you wear it so that it may be easily seen. Be sure to return the visitor’s badge to the office when leaving campus. Thank you.
