Bihar is a place with very good history, land of Buddha, where freedom movement was started, which was given birth to lot intellectuals whose knowledge, is spread worldwise. Bihar is a place which has rich cultural heritage and follows even till today. Traditional festivals are celebrated with happiness.

Celebrations in Bihar

All major festivals of India are celebrated in Bihar, such as Diwali, Chatth Puja, Makar Sakranti, Bihula, Shravani Mela, Rakshabandhan, Teej etc.


Culture, Dance and Music.

Bihar has a very old tradition of beautiful folk songs, sung during important family occasions, such as marriage, birth ceremonies, festivals, etc. and the most famous folk singer has been Padma Shri Sharda Sinha. They are sung mainly in group settings without the help of many musical instruments. Bihar also has a tradition of lively Holi songs known as 'Phagua', filled with fun rhythms.


Dance forms of Bihar are another expression of rich traditions and ethnic identity. There are several folk dance forms that can keep one enthralled.

Theatre is another form in which the Bihari culture expresses itself. Some forms of theatre with rich traditions are Bidesia, Raja Salhesh, Sama Chakeva, and Dom Kach. These theatre forms originate in the Anga region of Bihar.
