Safety Update
Lago Vista ISD is committed to providing the highest levels of transparency possible while disseminating accurate information. We are in the midst of an ongoing investigation, but we want to provide you with as much information as we can about the situation we shared yesterday.
Late Saturday evening, Lago Vista ISD officials were initially made aware of concerns regarding a community member's presence at secondary cross country and track practices and events. The community member in question presents himself as a private coach and has never been affiliated with Lago Vista ISD in any official capacity.
The District took immediate action by beginning an investigation into these concerns. The Lago Vista Police Department was notified of the situation and continues to be involved, as needed. On Tuesday, the community member in question was informed that he is restricted from all campus grounds.
Through our investigation, we have learned that the individual in question first became associated with high school students during the summer and outside of any campus sponsored activity. Lago Vista community members have historically been afforded access to our track, tennis courts, and cross country trail outside of the school day. Student athletes also access these spaces on their own time. The individual in question approached a group of high school male athletes practicing on their own during the summer. He obtained numerous student cell phone numbers and began communicating and meeting with them. Lago Vista ISD is gathering information regarding the communication and interactions that occurred during the summer and will ensure that it is routed to the appropriate parties.
It has been the practice for our track, tennis courts, and cross country trail to be made available to community members at times when students are participating in extracurricular practices. Using the access we afford to all community members, the individual in question has been present during student practices before and after school and during the summer.
We have learned that this individual was present during a handful of middle school practices, but was not involved. Two middle school students were approached and were invited to participate in a spring running camp, but the interaction ended there. At present, we have no reason to believe that there are any further interactions between our middle school students and the individual in question.
With regard to high school, it has become apparent that the District's well-established processes for non-employee access to students were not followed. It is the expectation that proper protocols be followed to vet all individuals who come into contact with our students during the school day or through our extracurricular programs. That expectation was not met in this situation. We are working to thoroughly investigate this situation to determine the nature and extent of this individual’s interactions with students. We have been in contact with each of the students and families that we believe to be involved. Additional updates will be provided once we have concluded our investigation, but we want to assure you that this is not reflective of our standard practices or the rigorous protocols we have in place to ensure the safety and well-being of our students.
If you have any information or concerns that you believe may be pertinent to this investigation or to the safety of our students, we encourage you to reach out to the campus principal directly. Your input is essential in helping us address any issues promptly and effectively.
Finally, in addition to the actions that have already been taken, we want to assure our school community that we are conducting a thorough review of our visitor procedures to prevent such occurrences in the future. Our commitment to providing a safe learning environment for your children remains unwavering, and we will take all necessary measures to uphold the trust you have placed in us.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.

LVMS Practice Track Meet
We had our first practice track meet on Wednesday night, and it was a great experience for our 7th and 8th graders(and a few special 6th graders!) to knock the rust off and prepare for track season. Our first official meet will be Friday, March 1st in Marble Falls.
Spring Reminders
With spring activities and school functions ramping up, we want to remind you to make sure that you check in through the Raptor system. That includes dropping off lunch - those must be delivered to the front office, NOT hand delivered to your student on the way to the cafeteria. Also - Door Dash(or any food delivery service, including Dominos Pizza) will be turned away and not delivered. Food must be delivered by a parent/guardian for your student only - not for their friends.
Also, if you wish to volunteer in anyway we ask that you follow all required procedures. Email me with any questions - thank you for your support!

Student Registration
This message is to inform you that annual student registration is open in Ascender ParentPortal.
As a reminder, annual registration must be completed EACH YEAR because these forms provide us with important permissions and information that must be provided annually. It is also very important to note that the information provided in Ascender ParentPortal is what the school uses to contact parents in the event of an emergency, so it is very important that all information is correct and up-to-date.
HOW DO I ACCESS ASCENDER PARENT PORTAL?
https://portals13.ascendertx.com/ParentPortal/login?distid=227912
¿NECESITA ESPAÑOL?
Todos los formularios de registro también están en español. Para continuar en español, hay un menú desplegable en la esquina superior derecha de la página de inicio de sesión para cambiar al español.
WHAT IF I HAVE A NEWLY ENROLLED STUDENT? WHAT IF DON'T SEE MY ENROLLED STUDENT IN ASCENDER PARENTPORTAL?
If you enrolled your student during summer enrollment, you must still complete annual registration forms. If you don't see your enrolled student when you log in, an Ascender ParentPortal ID is needed in order to link to your student and complete the annual registration forms.
Please email registration@lagovistaisd.net and your campus registrar to receive your student's Ascender ParentPortal ID. Please note that there may be slight delays in answering requests during peak times, such as this, but we will get it to you as quickly as possible!
Once you receive your student's Ascender ParentPortal ID from the campus registrar, please log into Ascender ParentPortal, select "Link to Enrolled Student", and enter the ParentPortal ID and the student's date of birth.
WHAT IF I SEE MY STUDENT, BUT DON'T HAVE A "REGISTRATION" OPTION?
In order to complete forms or update data for a student, the email address you have listed in Ascender ParentPortal must match what we have in our system. If you can see your student, but can't update any information, those email addresses do not match. We recommend updating and verifying your email address in Ascender ParentPortal. If you need us to change your email address in our system, please email registration@lagovistaisd.net and your campus registrar. You will be asked to provide your student's full name, date of birth, and grade level for verification purposes.

Vaping = DAEP
HB 114 makes offenses involving the possession and/or or use of vapes a mandatory DAEP offense. School districts will now be required to place all students who are caught in possession and/or or using vapes (of any kind – not just those with drugs) into their DAEP.
Please share this with your children - it's just not worth it!
