The Columbia space shuttle had 28 missions and 160 total crew members ride into space. Columbia was in space for 300 days, 17 hours, 40 minutes, and 22 seconds; in that time it orbited around the earth 4,808 times. Columbia traveled a total of 125,204,911 miles.

On February the first seven astronauts were coming back home when a disaster happened, there shuttle was destroyed . The family's of David Brown, Rick Husband, Laurel Clark, Kalpana Chawla, Michael Anderson, William Mccool, and Lian Ramon were devastated all because of a piece of foam that broke off the shuttle during take-off. There was no way to repair the damage that happened over Tyler, Texas.
About the shuttle Columbia
Construction for Columbia stated in 1975 in Los Angeles but, scene then Columbia had many modifications over 100. Columbia was the heaviest of all the orbiter shuttles weighing about 178,000 pounds. Columbia took the first Japanese woman into space it also was the second shuttle built but the first to go in to true space.
