The Details

Pridelands is an original musical with book and lyrics by Jennifer Stafford and music by Walter Harvey, written exclusively for CYT.

It was inspired by the story of The Lion King and takes place in Africa. It features names and phrases from the Zulu language and animals from the African savannah.

The tale of rivalry, betrayal and forgiveness emphasizes valuable character traits and the importance of making wise decisions. This is a must see for all families and kids of all ages!

Painting with the Pride - Giving Back to Our Community

Our Pridelands cast and HYPE team is teaming up with the Bullying Prevention Alliance to make their new building kid friendly for all of the students who will come through their doors. Pridelands cast members submitted designs for an anti-bullying themed mural that the Pridelands cast used to paint artwork for the building on February 27th.

Why do this right before our tech week for Pridelands? The show tackles themes that are directly related to bullying--Duma, the main character, is ostracized by his brother and his entire pride because of one little rumor and he is continuously bullied by his older brother which leads to some dire consequences. Our CYT kids wanted to face the epidemic head on and do something to demonstrate that the power of love and community is bigger than any bully.

The kids did a GREAT job painting and had a blast doing it. Stay tuned for an Anti-bullying video PSA that the kids made at the event!
