DRESS CODE REMINDERS
The way you dress has an impact on what people think of you -- MAKING A GOOD FIRST IMPRESSION IS VERY IMPORTANT. You should be neat and clean in your appearance and dressed appropriately. If you are not dressed appropriately, you will be counseled and asked to change clothes. If you continue to violate the dress code, you receive a major disciplinary write-up for defiance. The following are considered inappropriate clothing and cannot be worn on a school day at BGJHS:
- Skirts and shorts are to be of appropriate length. Appropriate length is no higher than six (6) inches above the knee, 360 degrees all the way around the legs.
- No holes, shreds or tears above mid-thigh that shows skin.
- No article of clothing that pertains to or depicts the following will be acceptable: a) substance or activity illegal by law for minors: alcohol, drugs, tobacco, gambling b) profane, suggestive or violent language c) derogatory symbols or remarks directed at any ethnic group any gang sign or gang paraphernalia, or any other logos deemed inappropriate or distracting by the administration or faculty.
- See through clothes, pajamas, or any excessively tight clothing items.
- All pants must be worn fitted to the waist with or without a belt and should fit properly. SAGGING IS NOT PERMITTED AT BGJHS.
- Undergarments must not be visible at any time.
- Tube tops, muscle shirts, racer backs, spaghetti straps, thin straps (all straps must be 2
inches or three adult fingers wide), off the shoulder tops (cold shoulder with 2 inch straps ok) or tops that expose the midriff, any part of the bust (cleavage) or excessive parts of the back or are excessively tight or distracting are not permitted. Shirts and pants must meet while sitting, standing, bending at locker, and reaching in the air. - Hats, caps, gloves, sunglasses, house shoes, stuffed-animals, and other paraphernalia
deemed inappropriate or detrimental to the learning environment by school personnel are not to be worn. Religious or cultural head dressings are acceptable.
