Counselor Connection
12/16/22
T2 Grade/Pass Option Deadline is January 27, 2023:
1. Students may take ONE class per trimester with the Grade/Pass Option. 2. With a final course grade of 60% or more and completed essential learning tasks, students have an OPTION to receive their course grade, or a “P”. It is the student’s responsibility to communicate this choice to their instructor. 3. With a grade of “P”, students will RECEIVE CREDIT for the course. 4. A grade of “P” will NOT count toward 24 credit “honors status” at graduation. 5. A grade of “P” has NO EFFECT on Grade Point Average (GPA).
The application and more details for Grade/Pass option is available HERE (Only students logged in with their google account will be able to access the form.)
“Scholarship Season” is approaching! (Great project for winter break)
EHS posts all scholarship opportunities in Naviance Student. Video Tutorial on how to access the list HERE. Each student has an account where they can view the scholarship list under the college tab. The scholarship list can also be viewed under guest access (password: wildcats). A link to Naviance Student is on the EHS website under Families, then Counseling, then Naviance Student or https://student.naviance.com/eagan
Students should also check directly with the schools they are applying to inquire if they have any supplemental scholarships they can be considered for.
Another scholarship resource is https://www.fastweb.com/college-scholarships Students can make fastweb accounts to be emailed potential scholarships they qualify to apply for. Fastweb has made the scholarship search easier for students with key scholarship selections by school year.

Free College Essay Review and Tutoring: ConneXions Tutoring
We currently have 3 essay advisors (college students at Emory, Stanford, and MIT) who are available to work with students on their essays free of cost. Students can book a Zoom meeting, and we will help them with any essays such as the common application or supplemental essays. We will help them with brainstorming ideas, sentence structure, grammar, and flow. I have attached the link to the service below.
https://www.connexionstutoring.com/college-applications.html
ConneXions Tutoring started in March 2020 to alleviate the stresses of COVID-19. Our mission is to provide free tutoring services in all areas of study for students in grades K-12. We can help students struggling with homework, understanding concepts in class, as well as those seeking to get ahead of their course. From schoolwork to standardized test preparation to even college readiness, we have tutors that accommodate a wide range of topics. Students/parents can sign up by clicking on our 'Find a Tutor' page and then selecting a meeting time with their preferred tutor.
Sign up to BE a T2 Peer Tutor!
Students who have good grades and like to help others are encouraged to sign up to be a Peer Tutor with the EHS Counseling Office for T2! Interested students should click on the Google Form link below to sign up to be a Peer Tutor for T2! Peer Tutors meet with students virtually or in person and provide assistance with homework and studying for tests.

Sending Transcripts: REMINDER!
Seniors applying to colleges who need official transcripts must use Parchment to request them.
Be sure and use a personal email (not school email) when setting up an account. Transcript orders are processed on school days - not weekends/holidays. If students want T1 grades to be included on their transcript, they should select “HOLD FOR GRADES.” Transcripts with T1 grades are usually ready a few weeks after the trimester ends.
Stress vs. Anxiety
Stress is generally a response to an external cause, such as taking a big test or arguing with a friend. Stress goes away once the situation is resolved. Stress can be positive or negative. For example, it may inspire you to meet a deadline, or it may cause you to lose sleep.
Anxiety is generally internal, meaning it's your reaction to stress. Anxiety usually involves a persistent feeling of apprehension or dread that doesn't go away, and that interferes with how you live your life. Anxiety is constant, even if there is no immediate threat.
Both Stress and Anxiety can affect your mind and body. You may experience symptoms such as:
Excessive worry
Uneasiness
Tension
Headaches or body pain
High blood pressure
Loss of sleep
Ways to Cope
Keep a journal.
Download an app with relaxation exercises.
Exercise and eat healthy.
Get regular sleep.
Avoid excess caffeine.
Identify and challenge your negative thoughts.
Reach out to friends and family
Life can be stressful. If you are struggling to cope, or the symptoms of your stress or anxiety won’t go away, it could affect your health. All of the above information is directly from National Institute of Mental Health.

College/Military Visits
The admission representatives that visit Eagan high school are the same people that review college applications. EHS College visits will begin starting the week of September 13th. We already have 31 colleges signed up for this month!!
Students can view these visits by logging into their Naviance Student account. Students should register on Naviance for both virtual AND/OR in person college visits. The registration in Naviance is the pass to leave class. If registering for a virtual visit during the school day, students should bring their iPad and earbuds to the counseling office to log-on for the visit. College visits are added daily, so students are encouraged to log into Naviance to see updates.
No visits are scheduled the week of 12/19/22.
** If students would like to attend any of these college visits, they can register on Naviance.
