Register for our fundraiser HERE!

Hi Hawthorne Families! It’s that time! Our families can start sharing about and donating to our Hawthorne Fun Run - starting TODAY!

I hope you’ve seen the information about the upcoming Fun Run fundraiser for our school that is kicking off on September 9th! We are one week away from Kickoff!!

I’m reaching out to make sure you’re looped as it would be great to see if we can rally our families to participate in this fitness and character fundraiser. The school’s goal is to raise $15,000 for playground improvements and to support teacher classrooms for awesome student experiences. I think our class can make a big difference through their efforts and hope you think so, too!

As a family, you can give, share your student’s fundraising link with others, or both! If this is not the right time to financially give, we fully understand. Simply sharing about our fundraiser from funrun.com IS supporting our fundraiser.

Thanks in advance for your involvement. This is going to be a great opportunity for all students to participate in fun, engaging character lessons and a high-energy event which will allow them to show their school spirit and help make a difference in a big way!

Back to School Picnic!

Our PTO hosted a "Back to School" picnic that included a ninja warrior course for our students to play on. We had an amazing turnout from our students and families and we wanted to thank everyone that attended - it was so great to see all of you on a beautiful evening!

Kindness Retreat

Our 5th grade students participated in the Youth Frontiers "Kindness Retreat"! This program helps student character development, understand why and how to make kind choices, enhance empathy skills to understand how words and actions affect others, and to acquire conflict-resolution skills to safely respond to situations of unkindness.
The students and staff had an amazing day as they danced, sang, acted out scenarios, and bonded with each other that will hopefully carry over throughout the year and be tremendous student leaders for our building!!

Monthly Tech Tips!

This month we will talk about when is your child ready for their own SMART device. There is no right or wrong answer on when your child is ready for their own device, but here are a couple of key milestones you may want to look for. Is your child demonstrating responsibility for things they have been given? Do you need to stay in touch with your child when they are away from home? Does your child have a tendency to lose things? These are not the only questions to ask but are some great ones to start the conversation. For more info on if your child is ready for a SMART device check out the SMART TALK GUIDE. If your child does have a device it might not be a bad idea to set up some ground rules for using their SMART device, don't worry, we have you covered there too. Check out the SMART TALK RULES, a site created by Common Sense Media and the National PTA to help start the conversation on being responsible with new technology.

Thank you...

We wanted to also say thank you for your help with morning arrival and afternoon dismissal and keeping our bus areas clear of vehicles. By doing this, we are keeping everyone safe along with keeping our bus drivers on schedule for their daily routes as well. THANK YOU!
