The Canyon News
Feburary 2013 -Allowing yourself to REWIND (Theme 2013)
From our Executive Director - Jim Krieg
the national event for CHA (a training organization for equestrians) and other retreat
groups from around the northwest. The equestrian center ran fun weekend programs and
Fellowship rides, the after-school riding instruction and Bible study. The Equestrian
College began the year with eight students, and they are still working hard to get their
graduation certificates in equine ministry. We are also enjoying our interns as they work
all around the campus and minister in the community.
Our fall fundraiser auction and dinner was once again a real treat. It was great to share
what God has done at Canyonview and see the supporters smile and appreciate what their
prayers have accomplished.
We also continued to be blessed by our volunteers. An electrician led the way in updating
all the lighting in the big arena and stables. Our paint ball expert continues to donate
his time with this fun activity. Our volunteer board members continue to meet and pray
for the ministry. Our excavation friend donated his trucks to haul footing for one of our
arenas. Our intern coordinator works diligently in mentoring his charges. It amazes me
how so many people just happen along when there is a job to do which requires just a few
extra hands.
Spring brings more activities. Fellowship Rides start again as well as our weekend
programs for all ages. Young people can spend their spring break here learning more
about horses and the Word of God.
In February we host two days we call Cooking Adventures. These are days of family
sharing as we learn how to cook and serve people God’s way.
The entire month of May is filled with outdoor school activity. Hundreds of kids from
area schools come out to experience nature here at the camp.
We hope that anyone who drives down our driveway will be blessed by the beautiful
grounds God has given to us to share with the community. We hope all will be stimulated
to consider spiritual things to the point of coming to know Christ as their savior. We hope
all will praise Him as we do for His many blessings.
In His Grace,
Jim Krieg
