Weekly Shout Outs and Grizzly GOOD News!
Congrats to Noah Kastner
Outdoor Classroom Renovations
63 man hours have been put into cleaning up our outdoor classroom! Some of our AMAZING Grizzly families were able to get many dead trees down and will come back soon to finish chopping up the trees that are down. They also cleaned out the drain so that water can flow under the gravel parking lot.
Those that participated were Leah Lewis, Mrs. and Mr. Yearsley, Aurora Yearlsey, Charlotte Yearsley (she is in pre-school), Carter Bradford, Brooklynne Bradford, Grayson Bradford and Hudson Bradford.
Thank you to these AMAZING families for their hard work and dedication to improving our campus!
Classroom Engagement
Shout out to Coach Somers, our Elementary PE Coach. Students are always engaged and ready to learn in our P.E. Little Gym! Coach is describing the instructions for the station rotations for some of our Grizzlies! You can catch Coach in the Gym, in the Car Rider Lines, or even driving a bus! Thanks Coach!
Shout out to our "Kinder Moms" who are our fabulous Kindergarten teachers. They spoke and presented at our August Board of Directors' meeting last week. They went over the Professional Development opportunity they learned from over the summer with our board. They even made a TikTok to demonstrate life in Kindergarten as a teacher! Check it out here: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT8NSmu5y/ Thanks Kinder teachers!
Shout out to Ms. Moore, our Middle School Science Teacher! She was brave enough to take our kiddos outside on the very first day of school for a lesson! These photos are from this past week when she took her students outside for learning in our newly cleaned up Outdoor Classroom! You can often see Ms. Moore taking her students outside of the classroom to do experiments, outside in our Car Rider traffic lines, and coaching volleyball! Thanks Ms. Moore!

Car Rider Lines
Big SHOUT OUT to our parents! You are getting the hang of the process for both lines and we have seen noticeable improvements. Thank you…Thank you…Thank you! Keep it Up!
Please continue to be mindful of the following:
For all lines, morning and afternoon: All cars should pull down to the farthest/last cone…there should be no gaps in lines. This allows us to be efficient & timely.
Students should get out of and in cars sidewalk-side of the car for safety purposes and parents should remain in the car.
Upon arrival at the cone, student(s) should be ready and prepared to get out of the car with all of their belongings for the day. *Once you hit the gravel of the driveway, students should start preparing, packing and gathering belongings so they can hop out at the cone.
Please be cautious and pay close attention in the car rider lines. There are students and staff constantly moving around during our car rider lines to assist with the procedures and processes. Please do not be a distracted driver. Stay off your phones when our lines are moving and please remember to drive the 5MPH speed limit.
Thank you!!
Mrs. Spencer and Mrs. Vereyken
Feedback Form FAQ Document for CGS Families 2023-2024
FAQ Feedback Form Submissions for 8-13-23
How do I access canvas for two children? I made an account, but only shows one child’s info. Can you have more than one child on canvas? I log in as parent, but it looks like I’m a student to me. No way to add my son.
- Please contact Mrs. Regan for assistance with Canvas related questions at emilyreagan@cgsnc.org.
My 6th grader is new to this school and I was used to getting on PowerSchool to check her grades. I sent an email about getting access to powerschool but I got no respond. I got her syllabus from all her teachers and they keep mentioning something about Canvas and I’m completely lost, I’m not sure what that is or how to log in to that.
- PowerSchool and Canvas are two separate programs. The teachers use Canvas for all of their assignments, quizzes, etc. in Grades 6th-12th. PowerSchool houses everyone's gradebook and attendance for the most part (exception of Kindergarten who doesn't use PowerSchool). Please email me directly and I can touch base with Mrs. Nina and Mrs. Reagan to see about getting you access. Thank you for your patience.
Mrs. Lloyd informed students and parents that she's leaving on the 18th. We wish her the very best, and she will certainly be missed. What are the immediate implications for marching band? Students just spent a week in summer training camp and invested a substantial fee to take part this season, which I believe is mostly throughout September and October. Will there be a suitable replacement, or will students have the option of being refunded?
- We do not want to cancel our band program. Unfortunately, we haven't had any interest in the posted position. : ( We hope to have someone fill this position soon but if we need to cancel the program (which I hope doesn't happen) for this semester/year we will definitely look at any providing any refunds we can provide.
On picture day with there be photographers at both locations (CGS and Integrity)?
- Yes, picture day will take place on both campuses on 8/22 starting at 8:00 A.M. If you'd like to assist with pictures (volunteer), please reach out to Mrs. Cox at jennifercox@cgsnc.org.
There needs to be some kind of organization in the morning K-2 line. They are blocking Burch Bridge for the 3-8 line and there is no way to get around them. It is very unsafe for CGS parents and regular travelers. There needs to be a double line in the mornings for them as well.
- We agree! All parents in the K-2 line in the mornings and afternoons should be doubling up the entire morning unless directed otherwise. On the 3rd-8th grade side, the doubling of lines isn't needed for the morning but only for the afternoon. We agree that it is extremely dangerous and unsafe for traffic if we are out in the road. Please remember to pull up as closely as safely possible to the car in front of you when doubling up. Leaving large gaps of several feet push us out into the road. Please get as close as possible when pulling up behind the car in front of you. If a second line isn't started when you arrive, please make one! Thank you!
