New Books on the Shelf
Once and For All by Sarah Dessen. Dessen's many fans will adore her latest book, a richly satisfying and adorably entertaining story that has humor, romance, and an ending both happy and imperfect, just like life itself. The protagonist, Louna, daughter of famed wedding planner Natalie Barrett, has seen every sort of wedding: on the beach, at historic mansions, in fancy hotels and clubs. Perhaps that's why she's cynical about happily-ever-after endings, especially since her own first love ended tragically. When Louna meets charming, happy-go-lucky serial dater Ambrose, she holds him at arm's length. But Ambrose knows he's met the one girl he really wants. This enchanting tale will be shelved in Teen Romance.
Crossing Ebenezer Creek by Tonya Bolden focuses on the little known tragedy that occurred at Ebenezer Creek, GA during the Civil War. In Bolden's powerful read, Mariah and her younger brother Zeke are suddenly freed from slavery and join Sherman's march through Georgia. Mariah wants to believe the hardships of slavery are behind them, but she soon realizes that even hope comes at a cost. This book is perfect for fans of Ruta Sepetys and will be shelved in Teen Historical.
