Urgent Need for CPMS Volunteer Chaperones!
Our 8th grade field trips to OSU are in danger of being canceled!
If we can't come up with enough volunteer chaperones then we will have to cancel the trips. The charter buses have already been paid for and the kids would be terribly disappointed to have to miss it. You can even volunteer if your own child is not currently in the 8th grade.
We only have 4 volunteers signed up for Monday, June 4th and 13 for Wednesday, June 6th. We need a minimum of 15 for each trip. The charter buses will be comfortable and you even have the option to drive yourself as long as you're on time.
For Monday the 4th sign up HERE
For Wednesday the 6th sign up HERE

Volunteers needed for our Fall Fundraising Event!
...but we still need help to pull this off. There will be an informal meeting for volunteers to find out what they can do to help our students run to raise money for our wonderful middle school.
At 9am, Friday, June 8th at Market of Choice we'll hold a meeting to coordinate the next several months of preparation for the event. If you'd like to help Cedar Park raise funds for our kids, we'd love to have you. We only have 5 volunteers right now, and will need many more. So, head on over to see what it's all about.
Art Literature - Thank You Far West Recycling and Young Audiences
The Cedar Park students and staff would like to thank Far West Recycling and Young Audiences for supporting art in our school.
On March 22, Rainbow Dance Co. performed "iLumiDance Reavealed" to a gym full of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. This performance was made possible by a generous grant from Far West Recycling and an additional contribution by the Cedar Park Parent Teacher Club, using funds raised from the annual Fun Run.
The professional dancers lit up the darkened gym and appeared to "float" through the space. Students were inspired to express ideas through art and engineering. The show was a great combination of art and the engineering design process. The students really enjoyed the portion of the show called "stick person" where a group of six students collaborated on a dance. After prototypes and practice, the lights went out and the stick person danced "Gangnam Style" as the audience roared in appreciation and acknowledgement for the hard work of student participants. It was clear that the performers enjoyed working together on a difficult task.
Thanks again to Far West Recycling, Young Audiences, and the PTC for their work and generous support bringing this professional art and engineering experience to Cedar Park students.
~Daphne Teals - Art Literature Committee Co-Chair
The PTC would also like to thank Daphne Teals for all of her hard work as the Art Literature committee co-chair along side Mary Beth Piccirilli over the past 3 years at CPMS. They will be moving on from Cedar Park as their own children will begin at Beaverton High School in the Fall. They will truly be missed.

Continuing Need for a Volunteer Coordinator for 2018-19
A critical role available next year is CPMS’s Volunteer Coordinator. The Volunteer Coordinator oversees CPMS’s volunteer needs, but is not responsible to plan and organize every volunteer activity. This position can be co-chaired by two people.
Here’s a quick education on what that role entails:
Serves a one year term
Can be shared between one to two parents
Promotes & encourages volunteer activities, including managing the district volunteer software (training provided)
Attends one BSD Parent Group Leadership training
Organizes the fall’s Volunteer Orientation
Acts as a liaison between the PTC and CPMS regarding volunteer needs
Create and maintain volunteer badges as needed
If you are interested or would like to learn more regarding the Volunteer Coordinator, or any of these lead positions, please contact Angela Redmon (angelaredmon@gmail.com).
