Mrs. Doolittle's Class

Apples and Boosterthon and Conferences, Oh My!

Whew! What a week! This week in kindergarten we learned all about apples and the legendary Johnny Appleseed. We made apple tree family trees, wrote sentences about apples, counted apples, and made our very own Johnny Appleseeds in centers. Meanwhile, we were busy reviewing solid shapes and numbers 1-5 in math, and working our way through the alphabet (Z, here we come!). Students worked hard raising money for Boosterthon! Our class is number one in kindergarten with $52 a lap, which means we get an ice cream party! We ran hard this morning (be sure to see the gallery of pictures below) and laughed our heads off watching Dr. Doolittle and Mrs. Allen getting slimed this afternoon. We finished off the week celebrating all we've learned with class-made apple sauce and yummy apple cider.
Thank you to everyone who met with me on Thursday. Remember, I'm always just a Dojo message, email, or phone call away.

Reminders:
1. Please return the pledge envelopes that went home today by next Thursday, September 25th so we can finish up Boosterthon strong.
2. Book orders are due next Thursday, September 25th. Thanks to all who have ordered already. You're helping our class library grow!
3. Please keep practicing student numbers at home. Students use these numbers to check out books as well as buy lunch. It makes our time in the library and the lunchroom go much quicker if the students know their numbers.
4. Keep up the excellent work you're doing with your children! Practice sight words at home, read with your child daily, and encourage them in their work, and together we'll create lifetime learners.
