Fall Parties
Families,
Halloween is exciting for many. The thought and planning that go into getting the perfect costume, the trick-or treating, the candy and so much more. As you know, we are unable to have Halloween Parties, but that does not mean we cannot have a little fun.
With so many things changing this year, and having to adapt to a new “normal”, we want to make sure we still have a little fun along the way. Students will be permitted to wear their costumes to school and we, as a school, will do some fun things (non-food related) while following all guidelines.
If your child decides they want to wear their costume to school, there will be some rules that they need to follow:
· Students are not permitted to wear their Halloween masks/makeup
· Costumes must be school appropriate
· Students will not be permitted to bring accessories for their costumes
· Students will still partake in the regular school day, attending lunch, recess, encores, etc. They will wear their costumes during this time.
· Students will be responsible for taking off and putting on their costumes when needed (ex: bath-rooming).
· Costumes will be worn all day. If you are worried about your child’s costume getting ruined you may want them to wear something different
· If your child does not want to wear his/her costume, they can wear a Halloween shirt, fall colors, etc.
Again, there will be no typical parties like we have had in the past. Teachers will still make an effort to make the day fun and recognize the day by having fall-themed activities and/or crafts.

Veteran's Day
When should i keep my child home?
In order to do your part in preventing the spread of germs, it is imperative that we are frequently doing symptom checks of our children at home. If your child is displaying any of the following symptoms, please keep them home and inform our front office. We will work to ensure that your child stays up to date with assignments and the teaching taking place in the classroom:
- A fever of 100.4 degrees or higher. This is one of the strongest Covid Symptoms
- Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
- Persistent cough or runny nose
- Loss of taste or smell
- Sore throat
We need you to assist in helping us, by monitoring for these symptoms on a daily basis, and keeping your child home if they aren't feeling well.
Sock Drive
WHY are there monsters hanging out in front of the media center you ask!!!!
Student council is conducting a sock drive which will benefit the homeless in the Cleveland area. The monsters are made from stray socks who have lost their way! We are collecting socks to help people who may have lost their homes and are now homeless. Socks are one of the most requested items needed by people who live on the streets or without a permanent place to call home. We hope you will help us to feed the monster boxes with lots and lots and lots of socks because they are VERY HUNGRY!!
Drop off boxes are located at the entrance to the library and the vestibule.

‘Here Comes the Bus’ App (Repeated Item)
‘Here Comes the Bus’ App
Now Available for Strongsville City Schools Families
to Track Daily Transportation Information
Last year, Strongsville City Schools purchased and installed GPS on its entire fleet of buses and have now completed the testing of a new app for the District which will allow families to monitor daily transportation information. The Here Comes the Bus app is now available to families with students who utilize Strongsville City Schools transportation. The app and complementary website, available on a smartphone, tablet, or laptop, or personal computer, enables parents to see the location of their child’s school bus on its daily route. Additional highlights of Here Comes the Bus include:
- Notifications sent to a phone or computer (text messages and/or email) which alerts families when their bus is approaching the bus stop
- Notifications sent updating families on any daily bus number changes
- Customizable features for different devices, depending on how parents are viewing the app/website
“Being able to add GPS to our fleet of buses and offering the Here Comes the Bus app to the families in our District is a positive upgrade for transportation in our District. This app and website provides another layer of security for our students and families, while also leading to greater efficiencies for our bus drivers,” said Mr. Stephen Breckner, Operations Manager for Strongsville City Schools.

Title I Schools
As a district we receive Title I funds that help to provide additional personnel to assist students in literacy. As a result, you have the right to know about the teaching qualifications of your child’s classroom teacher. These qualifications include:
Whether the teacher has met the Ohio teacher licensing criteria for the grade level and subject areas in which the teacher provides your child instruction.
Whether the teacher is teaching under emergency or temporary status that waives state licensing requirements.
The undergraduate degree major of the teacher and any other graduate degree or certification (such as National Board Certification) held by the teacher and the field of discipline of certification or degree.
Whether your child is provided services by instructional paraprofessionals and, if so, their qualifications.
