WHAT WENT WELL THIS WEEK…...

By: Ava F.

When I was in 2nd grade my Dad and I would walk to school. We would talk about if one of the big trees were decorated with Christmas lights. When I went into school one day, my Dad proposed the idea to Mrs. Kolenski. To my surprise, a couple weeks later the tree lighting was actually going to happen and I was getting interviewed for the Mount Olive District School Wide Letter! Then the night of the tree lighting ceremony, I ran up to the school to see everyone there. I was filled with so much joy to see all of these people at the ceremony. My name was announced and I was called up in front of the crowd as Mrs. Kolenski told everyone how the idea came to life.

The past couple years, things have changed but the PTA still had the lighting. Some years it was a tree, some years it was a blow up. The PTA always graciously donated hot chocolate and treats for the night. It's always been a special time spent with the community. I'm excited that this tradition is back for my last year in Mountain View. I hope the tradition continues even after I'm out of Mountain View. I look forward to performing in show choir and eating candy canes.

My favorite thing about this tradition is everyone getting together. It makes me so happy that everyone there is having a good time. For the past 2 years I've enjoyed singing in show choir and being a part of the night. During the first year it snowed and it would be great if that happened again. I am very sad I wont be in the school for this event in the future, but it will always hold a special place in my heart. And so will those candy canes.

Holiday Festivities

Message from the Principal

It has been a very busy two weeks! We held our annual Holiday Lights event. It was a beautiful night of holidays favorites lead by our show choir. The Mountain View school community was full of holiday cheer and warmth. Thank you FPTA for organizing such a nice annual event.

Our fourth graders along with our show choir performed our Holiday concert at Mount Olive Middle School. They sang and danced to different holiday tunes to really get us in the spirit.

Report cards are open and available to you. Please be sure to look at them as they will close in a few weeks.

The weather (sadly) is now getting colder. The chilly, winter weather is here. When the "feels like" temperature is above freezing, students will go outside for recess. Please always pack jackets, hats, gloves and scarves for them. As long as it is not raining or snowing, students will walk outside to get to the MPR for recess. This give them a bit fresh air and a .25 walk :)

Please take a look at the items above- that are in out Lost and Found. If you recognize something, please ask you r child to get it, or message their teacher. We will it to you. All items will be donated this Friday 12/23.

As always, I ask that you follow proper arrival and dismissal procedures. Parking on Clover Hill Drive (anywhere but directly in front of the school) is not allowed by town ordinance. It makes it difficult for buses to see and safely enter/exit the lot. There are many cars parked here each morning. I do ask for your help, as this is a safety concern.

Also, we needed to open our gazebo lot for Staff Parking Only. The handicap spot is for staff and students that require it. All other parents, please drop off in the carline, use the parking in front of the building or on the side streets. I greatly appreciate your time with this matter.

I wish you all the Happiest of Holidays! Enjoy the break and time with your families.
