In Case You Missed It:
Many classrooms are using Interactive Notebooks this year and using glue sticks. We do not order glue sticks for student use, so I did an "all call" this week and posted on social media asking for glue sticks. We have been fortunate to receive several donations in the front office and will give these out when asked until they are gone. I hope that other donations were sent to classrooms. Please make sure to email and text parents when you are in need of supplies. We are fortunate to have community and family support! Many will help if you ask.
EVAAS released teacher value-added reports on Friday for teachers that taught last year. You can access through your NCEdCloud login. If you are not able to access or have questions, please let me know.
Our admin intern, Sherell Stevenson, will be back home beginning Monday! She is excited to be back and ready to hit the ground running.
Second round of observations will begin this week. These are all unannounced. Our goal is to be finished before we go out for our winter break. Sherell will also be doing all peer observations for teachers in their first three years of licensure. She will have these completed before the end of second semester in January.
I'm very excited for our WICOR Walks this week. I see this as a wonderful learning experience for us all from other experts in teaching and learning in our building. We had extremely positive feedback last year and did incorporate suggestions of making sure there were no IEP meetings scheduled and have this spread out throughout the week instead of being in a couple of days. One reflection question has changed for us all to watch for pre, during, and after reading strategies to help students with comprehension. Here is a link from All About Adolescent Literacy, adlit.org, which can help you understand what you should be looking for in your visits. All classrooms will not be reading during your visit, and I am aware and you will only see a snip-it of instruction, but if you see that kids are reading anything, please look for evidences of pre, during, and after strategies. This also can be a question that you ask as your "Ticket out the door." Here is a graphic organizer to help you with your "look for's" while you are in the classrooms and a thank you note. This is totally OPTIONAL. I was just in a creative mood :)
The Leadership Team Meeting scheduled for tomorrow is cancelled. If there is anything from your team which needs to be addressed before our next meeting, please let me know.
Always Choose to be KIND!
