P&F COMMUNITY LUNCH 12:30PM TOMORROW
Please sign your child out on an iPad after lunch
NOONGAR SEASON OF DJILBA (AUG-SEP)
PRINCIPAL'S POST
Dear Parents & Caregivers,
After an extremely busy last few weeks, we have made it to the final days of Term 3! A reminder that tomorrow the Community Lunch will take place from 12:30pm. Lunches will be delivered to classrooms and children are free to enjoy lunch with parents and families in various places throughout the school. Feel free to bring a blanket or make the most of the covered area tables to enjoy lunch with other parents and children to end the term. A reminder to sign out your child via one of the iPads at the entrance to school should you be taking your child home after lunch.
ATHLETICS CARNIVAL
Thank you to all the children for a fantastic SFOA Athletics Carnival last Friday. Our apologies to parents and families that it ran slightly over time but we can only attribute that to the ferocity of the tug-o-war events! It was a great day and we really appreciate parents supporting the team aspect of the day and ensuring their children cheered on their faction until the end.
Congratulations to Benedict Noorn for winning both the competitive points shield and also the Spirit Shield for their sportsmanship, organisation and cheering. A big thank you needs to go to Ms Hamilton who put together a fantastic day for everyone's enjoyment. Thank you also to Kim Jacobs for assisting with places and all the parents who helped set up and pack away the tents so quickly.
YEAR 6 BUSINESS EXPO
Another brilliant initiative within our school community that saw our Year Six children design, market and sell their products on Monday morning out of the hall. It was a great turn out and with almost $1000 raised for Wheelchair 4 Kids, the children should be extremely proud of themselves. Thank you to our parents for supporting this initiative and helping them develop their products.
YEAR 6 CAMP
Our Year 6's are currently on camp to end a busy term - thank you to Mr Gorman, Mrs Freeman, Ms Hamilton and Mr Clarke for giving up time with their children and families to supervise our children 24/7 over the four day camp. The camp is always a huge memory of primary school for the children and this is only possible thanks to the commitment of staff. I'm sure there'll be some very tired children returning home tomorrow afternoon!
YEAR 4 BYOD 2024
Current Year 3 parents in 2023, would have received information by email this week that outlined the BYOD iPad Program for their child in 2024. There was an information video along with directions on how to access the JB Hifi Portal. This information can be found on our Youtube channel:

TERM 4 EVENTS
Please see the attached document below for a summary of the religious, sporting and community events throughout Term 4. As always, the most up-to-date calendar is found on our live calendar link below.
SUMMER UNIFORM
To begin Term 4, we transition to our summer uniform requirements. If you are in need of any uniform items, the uniform shop details and opening hours are listed below. The uniform policy is available via our school website and outlines what is required for our children. Mr Baker and Mr Clarke are looking forward to no ties in Term 4!
For a variety of reasons, it's been an extremely busy Term 3 and the children have had a number of disruptions to their teaching and learning program. However, the majority of these disruptions have been great community initiatives or other learning opportunities for our children. I'd like to extend my thanks to all the parents, children and especially staff for their cooperation and support through such a busy time.
Wishing all families and children a restful and safe holiday break. Time seems to be flying by so please make the most of the holidays to spend some quality time together and enjoy the break from school routines. For those travelling, please stay safe and we look forward seeing all children back at school on Monday 9th October.
Happy holidays!

ST FRANCIS OF ASSISI MASS & MISSION FETE - Friday 13th October 8:45am
Our St Francis day of celebration is fast approaching! We will come together as a school community to celebrate the Feast of St Francis on Friday 13 October starting at 8:45am with a whole school Mass. St Francis' Feast Day actually falls in our school holidays on October 4.
Parents and caregivers are encouraged to attend our Mass in celebration of our school patron.
ST FRANCIS OF ASSISI SCHOOL PRAYER
At the top of this newsletter is our St Francis of Assisi School Prayer which will be officially launched at our St Francis Feast Day Mass on Friday 13th October. It is the result of hard work from both the Christian Service leaders of 2021 and 2022 and the Catholic Identity Team. The words of the School Prayer reflect our SFOA values (respect, responsibility & honesty) and include our Francis Five feelings (welcome, included, cared for, safe & happy).
'Where there is love and wisdom, there is neither fear nor ignorance.
Where there is patience and humility, there is neither anger nor annoyance.'

STUDENT SPOTLIGHT
One of our Year 6 children, Tayla Hicks recently travelled to Adelaide to watch her favourite team, Port Adelaide take on the Gold Coast Suns. Lily was celebrated by the Power Aboriginal Programs and provided a special gift for one of her favourite players - Charlie Dixon. The Power celebrated this through their social media channels.
Lily has also presented the school with a painting as she moves onto high school in 2024. A wonderful gift and celebration of Lily's talents!

P&F NEWS
The P & F have had a great term 3, with some excellent events over the past few weeks. On the 8th of September, we had our Neon/ Fluro Disco and it was such a hit with all the kids. We could not have done it without all the volunteers and the following teams:
- Coles Butler for the soft drinks and chips
- Woolworth Butler for the Sausages
- Eventastic for the sparkly Photo Backdrop
- Sweet Gatherings for the coffee van
- Irene McCormack for organising the students who volunteered their time to help at the disco.
Upcoming events:
We have our Term 3 Community lunch tomorrow and we have over 240 orders, which is fantastic.
On Friday 20th October we have the Paint and Sip night. We have already sold over half the tickets and the link / QR code is available on the P & F Facebook page and the year group pages. So please get in quick for your tickets.
On Friday 3rd November we have our Colour Explosion School fun run. More details to follow.
P & F donation to the school:
The P & F have committed $10,000 to the school for 2023. These funds will go towards the planned new playground for the year 5/6 area and the new bike track for the younger years.
