We did it! Thank you for all of your support during this unprecedented year! It was bittersweet to say goodbye to the children last week, but I know they will be back to school for their next adventure in no time!
School starts next year on August 18th - look for communications from us over the summer and especially at the beginning of August.
In the meantime, I hope you enjoy the warm summer months and take time to appreciate the accomplishments of this school year.
Thank you,
Selene
T3 report cards are now available. You may access them through the PS parent portal (website, NOT the app). For K-5, there is the section at the very top of the report card for them to "sign". That is if we are collecting signatures for T3.

2021-2022 School Calendar
2021-2022 Band and Orchestra
Dear 3rd & 4th Grade Students & Parents,
Students in District 34 can choose to study a band or orchestra instrument beginning in 4th grade. Students who don’t participate in 4th grade can still join in grades 5-8.
Instruction is offered for the following instruments:
Band
Flute, Trumpet, Percussion, Oboe, Horn, Clarinet, Trombone, Saxophone and Baritone
Orchestra
Violin, Viola, Cello and Bass
During the first weeks of school next fall, the instrumental music teachers will meet with 4th & 5th grade students to introduce them to band and orchestra and help them choose an instrument to study. Following this presentation, parents will receive information on how to enroll their child in the program and rent an instrument.
We strongly recommend renting an instrument from our preferred vendors (PM Music for Band & Hoffman Strings for Orchestra) to have a high-quality beginner instrument delivered to school. Purchasing an instrument online or from a discount store is discouraged, as they are often very low quality. If your family already owns an instrument you’d like to use, please bring it to a music store over the summer to have it examined and repaired if necessary.
Lessons for beginning students will start the week of September 13th.
Playing an instrument can be a big commitment but is also very rewarding. Ensemble playing teaches teamwork, cooperation, and responsibility as well as providing an outlet for students’ creativity. Instrumental music has also been shown to benefit students’ brain development in numerous ways.
Please contact the band or orchestra teacher from your school with any additional questions. We look forward to making music together in the fall!
Please contact Sue Dobias at sdobias@glenview34.org with questions.
