A Message from Principal Ceci
The 2021-2022 school year is off to a great start! Our teachers and staff are enjoying getting to know your children and look forward to helping them have a successful year!
I would like to extend a special welcome to all of the new families joining O’Dell Elementary this year and welcome back all of our returning families as well! O’Dell Elementary is committed to providing a strong academic environment for our students, and we are eager to see each one of them realize their greatest potential and thrive in every possible way. Our goal is to have an atmosphere that is positive, safe, caring, as well as a fun place to learn and grow. My hope is that your child will love school!
I look forward to getting to know you and your children, and I am confident we will have a very productive and enriching year!

We hope you and your family have a wonderful and restful holiday weekend!
After School Dismissal
If you need to change the way your child goes home, PLEASE EMAIL YOUR CHILD'S HOMEROOM TEACHER BEFORE 3:00 P.M. Due to the number of students enrolled and for security purposes, we are unable to take phone calls to change a student's normal dismissal procedure.

Message from Nurse Baker
Student Illness:
When your child is ill, please contact the school by sending an email to doesattendance@celinaisd.com to let us know he or she won’t be attending that day.
IF YOUR CHILD HAS A FEVER OVER 100 DEGREES, HE OR SHE MUST STAY OUT OF SCHOOL UNTIL FEVER FREE FOR 24 HOURS WITHOUT FEVER-REDUCING MEDICATIONS.
IN ADDITION, STUDENTS WITH VOMITING OR DIARRHEAL ILLNESSES MUST STAY HOME UNTIL THEY ARE DIARRHEA/VOMIT FREE WITHOUT MEDICATIONS FOR AT LEAST 24 HOURS.
** If a student is absent or sent home by the nurse with any of the above conditions, and returns to school before the 24 hours is up, parents will be called to pick up their child.
Parent Lunch Sign-Up Genius Coming Soon
We are glad to be able to welcome parents back to our campus to eat lunch this year! However, due to limited cafeteria space and continued safety precautions regarding Covid-19, we are implementing some new procedures for lunch visitors:
A Sign-Up Genius will be posted on the first day of each month per grade level for parents to reserve a time slot to eat lunch with their child. The Sign-Up Genius will be posted on the district website www.celinaisd.com > News > O’Dell Elementary > Parent Lunch Sign-Up Genius. It will also be posted in our weekly electronic newsletter each Thursday.
There will only be 6 lunch visitors per grade level each day.
We ask that parents only sign up for one time slot per month so everyone has an opportunity to join their child for lunch.
There is a designated table in the cafeteria for lunch visitors. Students are not allowed to invite friends to sit at the visitor table.
Parents may bring lunch for their child only. The sharing of food with other students is prohibited.
After lunch, parents need to return to the office and not walk students back to class.

As a school family this month, we are delving into the value of Courage by examining how it looks, sounds, and feels. We want to help our children be courageous and learn to conquer things that frighten or scare them. Children need reassurance that fear is one of our feelings and to remind them that it’s okay to be scared and to feel afraid. The definition they are learning this month for Courage is:
To choose what is good, right, and kind even when it is hard or scary.
COURAGE CONVERSATION STARTER: Help your child feel more at ease when talking about courage and fears. Talk with your child about what used to frighten you as a child. Be open about how you courageously worked to overcome that fear. Talk about who helped you or what strategy helped you along the way.
Welcome!
