Good Morning everyone!
What a beautiful weekend it was! I can not believe we are down to only 2 more weeks of in person learning.
This week we will be working on mClass testing and end of the year math assessments. Wow - it will be nice when these are all done. :)
Below you will find important upcoming dates and the upcoming ABC themes. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Upcoming ABC days are:
- Mon. May 15th - Reading Day - Take time to read a book and then share with us what it was.
- Tues. 16th - Show and Tell Day - bring something to share.
- Wed. 17th - Team Day - wear a jersey or hat for your favorite team.
- Thurs. 18th - Under the Sea - We will try our hand at some drawing some sea creatures.
- Friday 19th - Villain Day - Share with me your favorite villain and why
- Mon. 20th - Wacky Sock Day - How silly can you get?!

Hello wonderful families!
We are in our last two weeks of instruction before testing begins. Keep up the hard work, study, and preparation.
I am so proud of all the students during the end-of-year iReady testing. They took their time and worked hard!
A friendly reminder that all graded assignments have to be completed by May 31st, no late work will be accepted after the deadline.
***5th Grade only***
We are planning the end-of-year promotion for our 5th graders and I would like to get a baby picture and a current 5th-grade picture from each student. Please email me the two pictures no later than May 26th. Thank you!
3rd grade will be completing end-of-year mclass testing during class time Monday - Thursday.

May is a great time to begin reviewing the material we have learned this year. If you have extra time available in the week, please use it to review and study the content covered this year.

Word of the Month - Diligence. Video Link
IReady End of Year Testing. Students will take the IReady Math Diagnostic in person this week. Please be sure to be present on those dates! Our goal is growth! Please you are well rested and eat breakfast before testing on those dates.
NC Test Tutorial. Students will be trained for the upcoming EOG Assessments using the NC Test Tutorial. You may preview those features here. Links to the Released EOG Tests in the Testing Tutorial can be found here.
Yearbooks For Sale
As you know Granville Academy will have its first-ever yearbook this year! Although the deadline for online yearbook sales has passed, you can still purchase a yearbook in person. The cost will be $35.00 (cash only) and can be purchased at the Mary Potter campus until the end of the year. Everyone who has already purchased or plans to purchase a yearbook can pick up their yearbook the first week of June.
Field Day. Granville Academy will be hosting Field Day on Friday May 19th! Please complete this form to attend as a GA Pirate K-12 student. The event is from 10am-1:00pm at the GAP in Oxford (4615 Belltown Rd). We can't wait to see our Pirates at our Fun Friday Field Day!

Classroom Incentives: Donations are requested for our classroom incentive programs. Gift cards (Fast Food-<$5) Individually wrapped snacks (ie: chips, crackers, cookies, cakes), candy, bottled water, juice, stickers, pencils, pens, and small toys are all welcome. Thank you so much for your support!
IREADY. Please complete your IReady lessons AS ASSIGNED. We will no longer report IReady as a monthly goal. PowerSchool will now display a cumulative percentage based on the fraction you have completed this year. March and April Goals will be 8 My Path Lessons per month, for a total of almost 50 My Path lessons this year. You have time to reach this cumulative goal. We challenge you to not only meet that goal but to EXCEED IT!
Education Galaxy. Students now have access to Education Galaxy in their Google Classroom for EOG Test Prep. The Study Plan feature will help us to diagnose the strengths and weaknesses in the grade-level content areas.
Announcements-Repeat
Tutoring will resume for students who sign up with Ms. Odom and Ms. Perry. * Tutoring is ONLY for students who sign-up in advance. All students MUST be picked up BY 2:30 p.m. Students not picked up on time will not be permitted to attend tutoring in the future. Thank you for your understanding!

PowerSchool/Grades
Students can access PowerSchool, and use it to monitor their grades and missing work. Grades are updated WEEKLY. Classwork Grades are 60% of the final grade. In-class assignment grades will be posted by the following Friday. Edgenuity is 40% of the final grade and will be updated each THURSDAY afternoon.

Accessing Assignments
Please ensure that your child completes assignments in both Google Classroom and Edgenuity.
A daily schedule will help your child to manage his/her time. Please modify the template as needed to reflect your child's at-home schedule. We recommend that students and families follow the school schedule as much as possible on At Home Learning Days.
Students must sign in using Classlink to access their learning apps. Please contact your teacher if you are experiencing difficulty accessing any required materials.
Tutoring/Learning Lab
Students will need to sign up in advance for tutoring*
Students must sign up with the Google form indicating what area they would like tutoring in. All students at the Mary Potter location should be picked up at the front of the building by 2:30. Tar River students will be picked up at their regular pick-up location at 2:30.
Tech Request-GCPS Ticketing System 1:1 Plus
Are you looking for support in Technology?
Please submit a ticket here with our new 1:1 Plus ticketing system. Staff & Students can access this tool using GCPS Google credentials. Email notifications about the submitted ticket are automatically sent to the appropriate technician and user. A nice feature is that a staff member can submit a ticket on behalf of a student if necessary.

High School Information

Good morning, Pirates!
We only have about 2.5 weeks left to get assignments completed and submitted! If you need assistance, please reach out to your teacher ASAP!
Students should be checking their email and logging in to their courses to complete assignments REGULARLY.
Attendance Reminder
PLEASE make sure you are completing your attendance form from your homeroom teacher each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
Mark Your Calendars - Spring Testing Schedule
Final exams are quickly approaching! The following courses will have final exams that must be taken in person at our Mary Potter campus in Oxford. Students will need to arrive by 8:45am with their fully charged school-issued Chromebook. Exams will begin promptly at 9:00am. If you have any conflicts, questions, or concerns, please contact Mr. Spradlin (spradlinm@gcs.k12.nc.us) as soon as possible.
Monday, June 5th - Math 1 & Math 3
Tuesday, June 6th - Biology
Wednesday, June 7th - Career Management & Business Essentials
All other courses will have a teacher-made final exam that will be taken at home. Please check your specific courses for more information.

Tasks to Complete - Major Clarity
All students should login to MajorClarity via ClassLink, go to their portfolio and review the tasks they should complete for their grade level. You can find steps on how to do that in this document here. MajorClarity has a support chat available if you need any assistance.
Students can also earn microcredentials through MajorClarity. Microcredentials can help students gain skills and demonstrate to future employers that they are proficient at various tasks. You can learn more about earning microcredentials through MajorClarity here.
Spring Schedule
Learning labs have begun. Our in-person lab runs Tuesday-Thursday from 9am-1pm at our Mary Potter campus. Our virtual lab runs Monday-Thursday from 9am-1pm.
Our synchronous learning opportunities are happening each week. These opportunities are for our Granville Academy students to be able to work with some of their teachers in person or virtually and potentially collaborate with their peers. Please visit your specific classes for more instructions and details about these opportunities. We HIGHLY ENCOURAGE students to participate in these learning opportunities.
