Field Flash
February 8, 2021
Dear Field Parents and Guardians,
We hope your family is well and staying warm, especially as we head in to the coldest weekend this year! As we move ahead into February, we look forward to a number of special events.
Wednesday, February 10th is our next student materials pick-up for fully remote students. We are moving it back to the North Gym from 7:30-8:30am. You are welcome to come to the main office during the school day on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday, if you'd prefer, as well.
This week, Wednesday, February 10th is an in-person day for cohort A. As a reminder, the full calendar of hybrid days/rotation is posted here. As a reminder, Friday, February 19th is now a remote learning planning day (no school for students), and Wednesday, February 24th is a regular school day with in-person attendance for cohort B.
We want to say a BIG thank you to the over 140 families who joined us this past week for our virtual World Read Aloud event! Mrs. Schaab, Ms. Bauer, Mrs. Donnelly, Mr. Mata, and I loved sharing and reading alongside book author Stephen Shaskan! We hope you were also able to participate in our PTO dine-out events that night. If you are interested in ordering a copy of the book, check out this newsletter from Mrs. Schaab for more details.
Later this month, we will host school pictures. Please be sure to review the information below regarding online ordering. All orders will be taken online, and no paper or money will be passed or handed in on picture days. Please be sure to mark your calendars!
For our in-person families, thank you for your participation in our new lanyard system. Each morning we will Look for the Lanyard around your child's neck. The lanyard will signal to us that you've conducted the daily health certification. This means you've checked your child's temperature at home and reviewed the symptoms checklist. If your child comes to school without the lanyard, our nurse will check your child's temperature and review the symptoms. We'll follow up with parents via email. Thanks for helping us as we Look for the Lanyard! This program has been very successful so far with most of our students wearing their lanyards each day.
Finally, I'd like to provide a few very important reminders about our "Kiss and Go" area along Elmore, though this reminder hold true for Wisner as well. It is critical that we work together to ensure a smooth, safe, and successful morning arrival. During the past week, we've had a few near car accidents and near pedestrian accidents. The Park Ridge Police will join us next week to help with this area. In the meantime, please review the following:
- Please pull to the curb (do not stop in the road) to let children out of the car.
- Please, please, please have your child(ren) exit on the curb side.
- Please pull up to a sidewalk entrance - we are happy to open car doors and help students out so you can remain in the car.
- If you must get out of the driver's seat, please do close your door.
- Please drop and go - it is imperative that you do not leave your car, even to walk your child to the next sidewalk.
- Please be kind. This includes being kind in your words and actions.
We can all work together to create a smooth morning!
We hope you all have a nice weekend! Stay warm!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Courtney Goodman
Principal
