Rock Your Socks - Sock Collection and Buddy Walk

Thursday, March 21, is Vernfield's ROCK YOUR SOCKS Buddy Walk! Wear your craziest socks and blue/yellow to show your support for World Down Syndrome Awareness Day!


Thursday, March 21 is ALSO the LAST DAY for Vernfield's sock collection! Please bring any donations of new socks to school and place them in the donation bin in the lobby. All donations will be given to the Montgomery County Offices of Children and Youth. Please join us in giving back to our community.

Celebrate Spring Day!

Student Council is sponsoring a Spirit Day called "Celebrate Spring Day!" on Friday, 3/22. We are hoping all classes find some time to go outside to look for signs of spring. Student council is providing each class with a Bingo Board of things to search for!

Tickets Still Available for Designer Bag Bingo Event

The Designer Bag Bingo Event is coming together. Thanks to all of the volunteers working to make this a night to remember.


There are still some tickets available but they are going fast so get them now while you still can. Tickets can be purchased online. Just a reminder that each person in a reserved group must have a ticket to play!

Lip Sync - Thank you!

A huge thanks to the Lip Sync Committee and all of the volunteers for putting on another successful show this year! Thanks, especially, to Sara Landis, Karen Planinshek, and Gina Rothenberger for organizing and making everything run seamlessly. The kids all had a fun evening dancing and singing from their seats, and cheering on their classmates. What creative acts - great job, everyone! We will notify everyone when the event will be aired on SATV and DVDs will be available for purchase.

3rd Grade Musical

Thank you, Mrs. Stover, for putting on yet another amazing 3rd Grade Musical! Great job, students! "Go Fish" was theatrical success!

Congratulations to Mrs. Fox

Our students at Vernfield know how special our school nurse, Robin Fox, is, and now she will be honored by the Pennsylvania Association of School Nurses and Practitioners. Mrs. Fox is the recipient of the 2019 School Nurse Excellence Award for Southeastern Pennsylvania. Congratulations!

Home & School Officers 2019-2021

By a unanimous vote, Kelly Cole was re-elected as 2nd Vice President (Communications) and Alisha Reynolds was elected as First Treasurer at Tuesday's HSA Meeting. We welcome Alisha to the Board and give our sincere thanks to both Kelly and Alisha for stepping up to help us lead the HSA.

In Case You Missed It...

LITERACY DVD - The committee needs YOUR help! If you are available for even a short time during the day, please consider signing up to help with the taping of the students. The DVD Literacy team has made it very easy for volunteers with detailed instructions. Please consider signing up for a slot or two in order to ensure that your child gets to have this precious keepsake at the end of 5th Grade! 2nd Grade Sign Up (week of 3/20)


Kindness Calendar Challenge - during the month of March. Parents: initial the boxes as your child completes the challenges and return the calendar at the end of March. The class with the greatest percentage of completed Kindness Calendars will win a reward for their class!


Reading Fightin Phils Ticket Book Fundraiser - The Reading Phillies have given us the opportunity to offer books of 6 general admission tickets for $27. Vernfield HSA earns $10 for every book purchased. Ticket books can also be purchased online here. In order to have your tickets for opening day, orders must be in by March 30th.


Philadelphia Union Game - We are offering 2 dates to choose from: May 4th at 7:30 pm and May 18th at 7:30 pm. (On May 4, for an additional fee, sleep over and get soccer training in the morning!) Tickets may be purchased at https://groupmatics.events/group/VernfieldElementary19, and a small portion of the ticket sales will benefit the Home & School. Questions? Franconia Elementary School Event

Franconia Elementary School will be holding a Mommy Market THIS SATURDAY, March 16th from 9:00am-12:00pm in the Franconia school cafeteria/gym. Admission is $1 for all adults and there will be bake sale items available also on a donation basis.

DISTRICT NEWS

Art & Soul Fest is on Saturday, March 16th, 6-9 pm at SAHS. Come out to see live art, musical performances, dance, poetry, open microphone sessions, Souderton High School's musical preview, a capella, student artwork from all the schools in the district, and much more! Admission is free for children 4 and under, $5.00 for students ages 5-18, and $10.00 for adults.


SouderTHON is Friday, March 22 at SAHS! Community Hours are 6-9 pm. All ages are welcome. $5 admission and $15 for a family of 3+. The Community Hour activities include a moon bounce, Science Live, gaming, dancing, slime creations, character meet and greets, food (Chick-fil-A, Dunkin' Donuts, Downtown Scoop) raffles and more. This year's SouderTHON pledges to raise $50,000+ that will benefit pediatric cancer patients in our community. All donations will benefit The Peter Powerhouse Foundation, which will provide donations to treatment facilities as well as provide support to researchers to improve the lives of childhood cancer survivors. Donations can be made to SAHS and mailed to Amy Tarlo or Jennifer Granito at 625 Lower Road, Souderton, PA 18964.


Monday, March 25 -- Souderton Area School District is excited to announce our first Town Hall Meeting! District administrators and the school board welcome the community to attend this important event, where the state of the District will be discussed - including updates on programs, budget and school safety. The event will take place at 6:30 pm at Indian Crest Middle School Auditorium.


Thursday, March 28 - Sunday, March 31 - SAHS Production of Mary Poppins. Tickets are $10. See flyer for more information.


SACE Summer Program Registration is Now Open! Summer Adventure Day Camp offers full day camp with before/after care and day trips.
