Color Run Success!
Thank you to all of the parents, staff, students, and community for their support during our 2nd Annual Color Run! Thank you to our Morgan Color Run Committee for their planning, organization and work to make this another successful event. It takes a team to work together for the benefit of all our Morgan kids!
Morgan Elementary/Morgan Volunteers PTO has raised just over $29.000! Morgan students had a wonderful afternoon and came home colorful, excited, and tired from the walk/run event. The kids were still talking about the run and how much fun they had yesterday throughout the day today.
Use and appropriation of the funds raised will be discussed and decided during future PTO meetings. To be a part of the discussion/decision making team, please attend our next PTO meeting on Tuesday, October 15, at 6:30 PM. The meetings are located in a quiet room at the Hamlin Pub on 25 Mile and Van Dyke. All Morgan parents are welcome to attend! There are food and beverages available for purchase during the meetings.
Tonight is Eisenhower High School's Homecoming Parade and Football Game. Go Eagles!! Several Morgan students will be marching in the parade this evening and many will attend the game tonight. Morgan students are future Eisenhower Eagles and we were excited to share spirit week in honor of IKE Homecoming. Enjoy the festivities with your kids and hope the rain holds off until later.
Have a great week!

The Principal for the Day and Announcements will begin in November. Your child will receive notice on Friday the week before they have been scheduled to be Principal for the Day or read morning announcements.
Congratulations to Mrs. Sekerak's Class, who had the highest donated classroom total for the run! They have earned the movie/popcorn party with date to be determined.

Power School Help During Conference Night
Wednesday, November 13, 5-7 PM in the Morgan Media Center
Eisenhower NHS Tutoring
Parents may register their students by submitting a request located on our website:
http://ikenhs.weebly.com/eagle-tutoring.html.
This will allow us to prepare adequate tutors for each subject matter. We ask that parents complete the form by Sunday night each week in order to allow us to organize the correct number of NHS students.
Their goal is to provide a safe and productive environment for both students needing help and our NHS members offering their service. Additionally, a staff member will be on site every week checking in registered students and monitoring the sessions.
Electronic Communication Devices
15. Possession or use of cell phones or other electronic communications devices (ECDs) by elementary students is prohibited at any time while in school or in a district vehicle unless permission has been given by an administrator– this includes text messaging and camera
usage.
Our sixth grade students have a technology agreement that is utilized as part of the transition from sixth to seventh grade. All other students should not have Electronic Communication Devices at school. This includes all Smart Watches, as they are capable of text, phone, and picture communication. Devices brought/sent to school will be turned in to the main office and parents will be asked to pick up the devices from the office.
Students in grades K-5 wishing to have a electronic communication device at school, have the approved option of bringing that device to the Main Office at the start of the school day and picking up the device at the conclusion of the school day. Any devices left behind are secured for the night in the main office after 4:30 PM.

Looking for Lunch Monitors!
Looking for help on Monday, Tuesday and Fridays!
If you would be interested in helping in the lunchroom, please fill out a lunch monitor application with EduStaff. A link to the application can be found below. You will need to create an account, enter your information, complete some online training modules, and have a background check with finger prints. Then you can work as many lunch days as you would like and be paid for your help!
Several of our lunch monitors also complete additional training in EduStaff to serve as substitute paraprofessionals in our building. If you are interested in becoming a substitute paraprofessional, please use the EduStaff application process below.
If you have questions about becoming a lunch monitor or the online process, please contact Melissa Roth in our main office at 586-797-5800.
Halloween Guidelines and Parade Information
HALLOWEEN GUIDELINES INSURE SAFETY FOR ALL!!!
We welcome moms, dads, grandparents and family members to join Morgan Elementary School for a morning of Halloween fun on October 31st. However, we do ask that you help us ensure a successful and safe day by following a few guidelines….
· Please do not arrive prior to 10:30 a.m. on the 31st unless you are helping with a classroom party. Our students will be involved in classroom instruction up to that time.
· Please check-in at our welcome station upon arrival if you are volunteering in the classroom. In addition, if you are wearing a costume yourself, let your child’s teacher know who you are. No adults in masks please.
· The optimum location for spectator viewing will be in the gym.
· After the parade, we will NOT be calling classroom for early dismissal. Instead, please arrange a meeting place outside of the building to meet your child during dismissal. We will ask that parents exit the gymnasium and lobby area at the conclusion of the parade so students may exit the building safely during dismissal.
· The following is an approximate schedule for Wednesday, October 31st:
10:45 a.m. PARADE BEGINS—11:29 a.m. DISMISSAL
HALLOWEEN COSTUME GUIDELINES
Halloween is a favorite holiday for many children. Not only do they love to participate, but they also take great pleasure in planning for the occasion. Again this year, our school is emphasizing “positive participation” during the Halloween celebration(s) at Morgan. As always, we are urging children to model their costumes on positive role models. Book characters, historical figures, period costumes, and folk heroes are all great ideas to consider when thinking of that perfect costume. We hope that children will design costumes that reflect the joy, wonder and imagination that childhood represents.
All of us at Morgan Elementary work diligently to teach children how to solve problems in a non-violent way. WE DO NOT WANT TO SEE CHILDREN DRESSED AS PERPETRATORS OR VICTIMS OF VIOLENCE. This includes props and accessories related to blood, gore, and weapons. On the morning of October 31st, changing rooms and time to dress will be limited, so minimally-complicated costumes are encouraged.
