Useful Information for Students and Parents of Green JHS

New COVID Testing Sites!

HESD is pleased to announce that COVID-19 testing will be available in the district starting, Thursday, September 16th. Testing will be available to all HESD staff and students ONLY. The testing site is paid through special state grant funds, therefore it will NOT be available to the public, including staff and student family members who are not associated with the District.


Please read the attached letter from HESD for more information.

There will be two testing locations:

Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays: Blackstock Junior High School, 701 E. Bard Road

Tuesdays and Thursdays: Haycox Elementary School, 5400 Perkins Road


Testing hours will be 10:00-4:00 at each location. Both testing sites will be walk-up only, no appointments necessary.


To register your GREEN student for COVID testing please click here. This link is ONLY for GREEN students. Students only need to register once before the first time they take a COVID test at a district site.

Public Library Support for Students

Rosenbluth Family Homework Center at Ray D. Prueter Library (Port Hueneme)
The Rosenbluth Family Homework Center is open Monday through Thursday, 3:00 – 5:30 pm. Our Homework Center provides free homework assistance in addition to internet access and free color printing for school projects.

Fall Reading Challenge Starts October 4

Ventura County Library would like to invite you and your students to join our Fall Reading Challenge. Students do not need a library card to sign up for this challenge.
• Challenge runs from October 4, 2021 to December 17, 2021.
• Preregister for the program now by visiting: https://vencolibrary.beanstack.org/reader365.
• Read books and log your minutes spent reading.
• After reading 500 minutes, pick up a free book from your local Ventura County Library (Prueter Library/Port Hueneme).
• Random prize drawings will occur throughout the challenge.

What to Bring Each Day

Temperature Screening

Temperature screening will be conducted at each campus entrance.


Please screen your child at home each day for fever or symptoms and do not send your child to school if he/she is symptomatic or sick.

Military Students and Families

NBVC Military Counselor

The MFLC can help support you and your child though these challenges and in the areas of: school adjustment, deployment and separation, reunion adjustment, sibling and parent-child communication, behavioral concerns, and fear or grief and loss issues. The MFLC also provides resources available on base and outside in the surrounding community based on the needs of the individual and family. I am on campus on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and you can either contact me by: calling the school directly or stopping by the front office and request a meeting with the Military Counselor.
