Presidents' Update
Hello Friends,
Happy New Year!!! Hoping everyone enjoyed some relaxing time with family and friends over the winter break. This time of year is always so busy, but seeing the smiles on children's faces is always worth all of the chaos!
The PTO is rolling up their sleeves and ready to get back to work on some awesome fundraisers and events for the New Year!! We are in the planning stages of Trivia Night, Family Fun Night, Math Night, Adult Social, which is on April 18th, High Interest Day, Bake Sales and several Dine Outs. Of Course, none of these events would be possible without the volunteers who are planning them, so thank you for your time.
In this edition of the PTO newsletter look for more information about:
- PTO Meeting
- Adult Social
- 3rd Annual Chess Tournament

Girls on the Run
The spring season of Girls on the Run kicks off the week of March 9th for girls in 3rd-5th grade. Girls on the Run is much more than a running program. At Girls on the Run we inspire girls to recognize their inner strength and celebrate what makes them one of a kind. Lottery registration will open on February 1st. We have traditionally had one team on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30-5:00 during the 10-week season. A team is limited to 20 girls. The program has grown in popularity and we're considering opening a second team this season on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We cannot do this without the help of volunteer coaches. As a coach, you're part of a team of coaches leading the girls through the GOTR curriculum. Coaches can be male or female, 18 years or older. No running or coaching experience is required. You'll learn everything you need to know at our coach training session. As a coach, your daughter will receive a discount on the program fee and will not be subject to the lottery. If we are able to find enough coaches for a second team, we'll be able to accommodate an additional 15-20 girls at McKinley. Please contact Kristi Knoedler at kristi.knoedler@girlsontherun.org for more information. Coaches for a second team need to be finalized by Friday, January 17th.
When girls work together, they can accomplish remarkable things! As a coach for Girls on the Run, you’ll receive tools and training to lead a team of girls toward their goals and help them recognize their limitless potential.
Next Dine Out January 14th
Thank you to Ruby Tap for hosting the Dine Out before the break. They rounded up to a $100 donation for the school! Please join us at the following Dine Out events coming up this spring and make sure to tell them you are there for McKinley. Thanks for your support!

Thursday, January 23rd all day Corner Bakery at 11500 W. Burleigh Street in Wauwatosa (Mayfair Collection) will be donating 20% back to our school when you tell them you are with McKinley!
Friday, March 13th during their business hours (7 am - 3pm) that day Miss Molly’s Cafe and Pastry Shop on center and Swan will graciously donate 20% of sales that mention McKinley back to our school! This is a new restaurant for us for Dine Out. Before work or if you are off Friday come and grab some coffee, pastry, or a meal to benefit our school and let them know you are there for McKinley.
