My Truth Be Told will contain personal stories from people who live and work in Sauk County today. A reflection of the people who make up our community, these stories will blend past and present in a mosaic of individual experiences. All members of the community are welcome to write and submit a story in the Palm of the Hand memoir style.
Palm of the Hand Method
More information about submissions, writing style, and the book can be found at https://spiritblogs.uwc.edu/memoirs/ Palm of the Hand is a memoir style that focuses on individual memories, presented in a short, accessible 1-page form.
Guidelines for Submission
- Memoirs must be submitted by July 15, 2015 to be considered for publication
- Memoirs should be 625 words or less, the author’s own work, and the author's personal narrative in the Palm of the Hand style
- Authors should currently live or work in Sauk County
How to Submit
- See https://spiritblogs.uwc.edu/memoirs/ for complete rules
- Electronically: email an electronic version of the memoir to palmofthehandmemoirs@gmail.com in a text-editable format, such as a Microsoft Word document, Google Document, OpenText document, WordPerfect document, or in the body of the email.
- In Person: bring a paper copy of the memoir to the UW-Baraboo/Sauk County Library (1006 Connie Rd., Baraboo, WI 53913). This copy will not be returned to you.
Meet Your Editors
Marc
Marc has been Library Director at UW-Baraboo/Sauk County since 2010. In May 2015, he began a new role as Library Director at Lake Superior State University in Sault Ste. Marie, MI.
Meg
Meg has been Director of the Baraboo Public Library since 2011. BPL hosted the first Palm of the Hand memoir workshop, and has been the home site for the program since.

Cate has been Associate Academic Librarian at UW-Baraboo/Sauk County since 2013. She is a new but enthusiastic memoir writer.
