Election Day-No School for Students
Student Attendance at Basketball Games
Here are the procedures if a student wants to attend a home basketball game:
- The day before a home basketball game, students who want to attend the game, must log into their PBIS rewards account and go to the school store to use 1 Panther Paw for the game.
- There will be a limited number of tickets designated in the PBIS School store for each game. Tickets will be available at 7:45am the day before the game, so students can go to the PBIS Rewards store during Advisory.
- Students who successfully purchase a ticket to the game will receive an email from Ms. Johnson with directions on how to pay the $1 for the ticket to the game.
- Tickets must be purchased by 3pm on the day of the game.
- No James Hart student tickets will be sold at the door. Students must use this procedure if they want the opportunity to attend a game.

Arrival to School
- Students must be seated in Advisory at 7:45am or they are considered tardy to school.
- Door S on Aberdeen will be locked at 7:40am.
- Door A on Aberdeen (closest to the light) will be locked at 7:45am.
- Student arrivals after 7:45am must enter the main doors on Morgan street.
- There is less traffic for drop-offs on Aberdeen than Morgan in the mornings.
- Please be careful when dropping students off in the mornings. There is single line for drop offs on Morgan so students can safely exit cars and enter the building.
Tardy Policy-Arrival to School
Students are required to be on time for school and each class so that classroom routines may continue without interruption. Students are to arrive to school by 7:35 a.m. The school day begins at 7:45 a.m. Tardiness is defined as a student not being in their assigned seat at the conclusion of the late bell. In the mornings, students must be seated with school materials in their Advisory classes by 7:45am or they are considered tardy to school.
Administration will issue a Saturday School for students who are tardy three or more times to school.
Homework Club
6th and 8th grade Homework Club meets on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays until 3:40pm
7th grade Home work Club meets Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays until 3:30pm
Permission slips are available from Advisory teachers and the main office.
School Computers
Students must come to school with a fully charged computer each day. Daily assignments and class curriculum are computer based so students need a fully charged computer in order to actively participate in class. Discipline consequences may be issued if students repeatedly have a computer that is not charged.
Students are responsible for the care of their laptops and should use the carrying case provided by the district. Laptops should be restarted each day to make sure they are updated.
Shield Testing
As you may be aware, Governor Pritzker recently removed the requirement that unvaccinated staff members be tested weekly. Furthermore, the CDC and IDPH no longer recommend weekly screening tests unless there is a high positivity rate in the community. You can read the CDC school guidance here.
Beginning in October, we will send home SHIELD testing kits only to those families who request one. Families will have their student provide a saliva sample in the test tube and then the student will bring that sample back to school the following day.
Click here to watch a short video explaining the process, (Please note that our students' QR codes will be applied at school, not at home, as shown in the video.)
Here are the specifics:
This week (Sept. 26-30)
- James Hart will continue testing as we have been doing. All students who have not opted out will test in PE class.
Starting the week of October 3
- James Hart will send kits home on Monday night to those who request them. All vials will be collected on Tuesdays.
Use the link below to request that a test kit be sent home. You need to submit only one request (not every week) by THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 29.
Veteran's Day 2022
James Hart and Panther TV are looking forward to their yearly tradition of honoring local veterans. If your student has a special person in their life who is a veteran, please submit the following information by November 4th:
- A picture
- Their full name
- Which branch they served in
- Who they are related to and how (ie. Uncle of Mrs. Cieplucha)
