Love Your Library
It's February!
Have you checked out electronic books or audiobooks from Overdrive?
NEVER be without something to read! You can check out books or audiobooks from our district's Overdrive library catalog (one of the biggest school collections in the country!) onto any WiFi enabled device. On a computer go to our library webpage and click on the link. On a mobile device download the app and search for NEISD. For both you'll login with your student's ID number. Contact Ms. Oliverson if you are a parent that would like access yourself! You'd have access to the middle and high school catalogs. Your students will only be able to check out elementary level titles. They will need Internet access to download but once that's done it will be available on the device for 3 weeks. Overdrive books will turn themselves in. You will never have an overdue book on Overdrive.
Se puede encontrar libros en espanol por Overdrive!
Read Alongs
These are picture books with accompanying audio. There are a lot of just picture books and just audiobooks as well, I just wanted to highlight the read along collection here.
Beginning Chapter Books
There are all sorts of Junie B, Magic Treehouse, and other titles. Check them out from the comfort of your couch!
Upper Elementary Chapter Titles
This is one example of many. We also have a lot of audiobooks available. They are a great way to get books read (and increase listening comprehension/stamina) while doing chores or maybe a more comfortable option in the car.
Speaking of Overdue Books
We have quite a lot right now! We want kids to be able to check out new books that will interest them and keep them reading. K-2 whenever they are not reading the books should probably be in their backpack or in the bookbox at school. 3-5 may have to spread them out a little because of length and number of books but just remember that checkouts are for 2 weeks. If no one else has asked for it the books can be renewed for another 2 weeks. If the book hasn't been finished in a month? Probably not high enough interest and we need to try something new.
Bookfair and Read Across America
is coming! The fair will run from Monday, Feb. 29 - Friday, March 4 (M-Th 8:15-3:30, F 8:15-12:45). If you can volunteer to help with the fair make sure to get your history check done and then you can RSVP through this link (which will also be on the main library page and shared via the Harmony Hills ES Library Facebook page. Thank you so much for your support! The fair is a great way to get new books both into your homes AND into the school library! More info will be coming home as the fair gets closer.
