MORNING DROP OFF REMINDER & REQUEST
Reminder: We have had a few parent concerns about parents lingering in the parking lot and have been asked to remind any caregivers/parents who are dropping off to please "drop and go".
If you are dropping your child off at HCS in the morning; you may do so after 7:30. Students should be dropped off at the door by the side/parent parking lot. They may enter through these doors between 7:30 and 8:00. After 8:00 students must enter through the front door. Thank you.

CVSD GRANTS
CVSD benefits from a number of federal grants to support our system. A key factor for some of these grants is the desire and need to engage students, families, and community members in decisions about how to best use these funds to support our students. We invite you to send your feedback to Sarah Crum, Director of Learning & Innovation, at scrum@cvsdvt.org or submit feedback through the Academics Let's Talk button on our website.
You can find information about all of our grants on our website, cvsdvt.org, under Curriculum: Grants. We are specifically seeking input regarding our investments for the Title IV federal grant which is intended to improve students' academic achievement by increasing the capacity to 1) Provide all students with access to a well-rounded education; 2) Improve school conditions for student learning; and 3) Improve the use of technology in order to improve the academic achievement and digital literacy of all students.

CONGRATULATIONS TO DEI COACH, AINAKA LUNA FOR HER AWARD
On March 10th Ainaka opened the NEA-Education Support Professionals Conference. Her Keynote: Unlearning our history to build Social Justice addressed the importance of exploring our past to understand today's inequities. She focused on the origin of the concepts of race and normalcy to recognize how certain sectors of society were elevated and centered over others in the modern world, and how to break discriminatory practices through our daily actions.
On March 18th at the NEA Representatives Assembly, Ainaka received the Human and Civil Rights award for her commitment for Social Justice and advocating for historically marginalized communities and equity in our schools.
PiE K-5 FAMILY DANCE
Hello HCS Families & Caregivers! The Partnership in Education (PiE) Committee is once again hosting a Family Dance fundraiser on Friday, March 31st, 2023 from 6-8pm. This year’s dance theme will be…Enchanted Forest! It's possible that a version of this letter has already come home in your child's backpack.
ORDER YOUR DANCE TICKETS HERE!
During the dance there will be a Basket Raffle of baskets created by HCS classrooms and staff members. In a nutshell, the Basket Raffle features baskets with items based on a theme chosen by each grade between K-5 (the target audience for the event, though siblings of all ages are welcome!) For example, a “Day at the Beach” basket might include sand toys, pail and shovel, beach blanket, snorkel, etc.
At the dance you will have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win the baskets! All proceeds from this fundraiser directly benefit HCS classrooms!
The grades have spoken and below is a list of the Basket Raffle themes:
Kindergarten: LEGOS
1st grade: I'm Not Bored Basket
2nd grade: Made in Vermont
3rd grade: Movie Night/Game Night
4th grade: Snow Day Fun
5th grade: Summer Fun
Please send any items you are able to donate to your child’s classroom by Tuesday, March 28th, 2023. Thank you SO MUCH for helping with this fundraiser! And don’t forget to join us on March 31st for the Family Dance!
As part of the Family Dance, the accessible spaces will be adorned with an art show by K-4 artists. Please enjoy the display while you celebrate with your family!
SIGN UP TO RECEIVE TEXT MESSAGES
Please enroll to receive text messages from the district and our school. If you haven't done this yet or if you are new to CVSD, follow the easy steps on this flyer. We don't overuse this method of communication, but it is helpful for reminders and quick announcements. Don't miss out!
