Students of the Month
Just a reminder, the Dubois County Community Scholarship application is available online and is due on September 30th. Stay tuned - additional scholarships will become available in January of 2018.
The VUJC college fair is scheduled to take place on Monday, October 2 from 6:00 – 7:30 pm with a financial aid meeting to follow at 7:30 pm.
During the month of September the following nearby colleges are waiving the application fee:
Vincennes University (all campuses)
Indiana State University
College Visits – Just a reminder that juniors and seniors are allowed one college day per semester. Once a student has set up the visit, they must fill out the required paperwork that can be found in the counseling area and return it to the office at least two days prior to the visit.
Upcoming ACT dates include: December 9, February 10, April 14, and June 9 – register online at act.org
Upcoming SAT dates include: November 4, December 2, March 10, May 5, and June 2 – register online at collegeboard.org Students eligible for free/reduced lunch or the 21st century scholars program should see their counselor for a fee waiver.
Southridge High School will host a FAFSA night on Wednesday, November 8th at 6:00 pm in the high school auditorium. Seniors and their parent(s) should plan to attend the session at VUJC on Monday, October 2nd at 7:30 pm or the session here at Southridge on Wednesday, November 8th at 6:00 pm.
Just a reminder that once a male turns 18, the law states they must register for the selective service. Registration can be found at www.sss.gov
All sophomores and juniors will be taking the PSAT (practice for the SAT) on Wednesday, October 11 here at Southridge High School. There is no cost to the student. The State will again be covering the cost.
October 6th is the end of the first quarter.

Then on Wednesday, September 27, the Raider FCA lead a student gathering for see you at the pool, which is day of prayer by students across the globe. Jayce Harter, FCA president, along with Nicole Eckert, our FCA Vice-President, as well as Mitchell Carter and Louisa Nino offered up prayers for our students, school, community, and world.
National Honor's Society
The Kindness Crew is a newly formed club here at SHS with the mission of... you guessed it, spreading kindness. Our theme for this year is Making Southridge Kind one person at a time.
Officers for the 2017-2018 school year include President - Seth Nunamaker, Co-Vice Presidents, Shelby Worden and Tati Delgado, Secretary, Kennedy Siddons, Kindness in the Community Chairman Loren Abell, and Kindness in the School, Camille Fleming.
New members are welcome. Dues will be $2.00.

The Huntingburg Public Library's World Book subscription has recently become more user friendly for both students and teachers. As of last week, the subscription is now open to anyone with the universal user name/password and a library card number is NO LONGER required.
