iPad Minis are a Big Hit!
Our class set of iPad Minis was introduced to the students earlier this month to rave reviews. Mrs. Jenkins' fifth grade class used the mobile devices to conduct research on inventors. "My students' level of engagement has increased. I enjoy the mini iPads because my students have an opportunity to use the technology and use it efficiently for their research project," Mrs. Jenkins said. Students noted that the iPad provided a great opportunity to explore their research subjects. Jalen Gordon added, "I love that I get to use technology that adults get to work on."
The fourth grade team used the iPads as a special treat during Math Day Half Day. Students were able to access math focused educational websites and apps.
If your class would like to schedule class sessions with the iPad Minis contact the Media Center. You can also check the schedule calendar to see if they're available for your desired dates iPad Mini Calendar.

Soar for the Stars with AR
Our new Accelerated Reader program began with the second reporting period. Each student who meets their designated point club set by his or her grade level (at 80% mastery) will be able to attend the ice cream party. Goals for grade levels are as follows:
- 1st grade --4 points
- 2nd--5 points
- 3rd-5th grade--10 points
The class that earns the most AR points with 85% mastery for the nine weeks will earn a special celebration. Progress for grades 3-5 will be tracked on a data wall on the media center windows. The top reader from each Homeroom class will be recognized at the SOAR assembly at the end of the nine weeks. Students who earn a total of 10 points or more with 80% mastery throughout the school year will earn a special visit to the AR store.
