COMING SOON: Course Selection for the 2020-2021 School Year!
Scheduling for the 2020-21 academic year will begin in February. The counseling staff looks
forward to helping your student develop an appropriate academic program. Below is a timeline outlining the scheduling process:
January - Teachers make recommendations for students’ next year’s courses.
January 17 - 2020-2021 Course Description Handbook available on our website (and by clicking this link).
Feb. 14 - Juniors will choose course selections in English 11 class.
Junior Parent Night/College Planning is Thursday, February 27 at 5:30pm in the high school library. (See flyer below).
Feb. 24 - 28 - Counselors will meet with 11th grade students to review courses for next year.
March 2-12 - Counselors will meet with 10th grade students to select courses for next year.
March 12 - 8th grade students will participate in Moving Up Day/High School Visit and have the opportunity to select electives for next year. A separate mailing will go out at a later date for these families.
March 16-20 - Counselors will meet with 9th grade students individually to select courses for next year.
April 3 - Students’ course selections will be mailed home for the 2019-2020 academic year. Please note these are course selections/requests as actual classes offered will depend on
May 1 - Deadline for students to contact their counselor about course selection changes.
May 1 through end of July - Master schedule development.
August - Students’ schedules are mailed home. Students will have the opportunity to make schedule changes in August depending on seat availability. In the fall, students will have 10 days from the start of the semester to add/drop a full year course and 5 days to add/drop a half year course.
Students will be given a copy of their course selections at their meeting. Please review it with your child. Please feel free to contact your student’s counselor if you have questions or concerns regarding the scheduling process, NYS graduation requirements, or if you would like to meet with your student and the counselor individually.
