English Notes

Mrs. Bullard

January 4, 2016

Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a restful break. I'd like all of my excellent students to get 2016 off to a great start and so I'm sending this reminder of your young person's "regular" English homework assignments.

The following will continue with one change of due date:

IR (independent reading) novel - read 30 minutes each night.

DGP (daily grammar practice) - due each Monday

Vocabulary cards and quizzes - due each Thursday (New due date!)

NewsELA - as assigned

These homework assignments are new and will be posted on my website.
Actively Learn - as assigned
EdPuzzle - as assigned
Book Club Discussion Posts - as assigned

Here's hoping we all have a great 2016!
Mrs. Bullard

Donations Requested

I am requesting your help in our effort to establish an inventory of novels to be used in The NCLA high school English classes.

The NCLA has purchased some copies of novels for our inventory. However, with three different grade levels, I am asking for your help in purchasing additional copies to bring all of our titles to a class level set. WE ARE SHORT of the funds needed to purchase these novels.

Would you please consider donating $13 to help in this effort? Please make checks to The NC Leadership Academy. Or, if you would rather, please donate a Barnes & Noble gift card.

In support of your donation, Mrs. Faenza has agreed to allow your donation to be logged as 1.5 hours of volunteer time.

Thank you for your help, and a big thanks to those who have already contributed.

Where do I find my assignments?!?

Assignments and due dates may be found in three places:

1.) My whiteboard.
2.) My website.
3.) Google classrooms.

When in doubt, your young person can email or text me.
See my contact information below or on my website.

Upcoming Assignments

My website is kept current with due dates for upcoming assignments. Please remind your young person to check my website for due dates.

Hint - there is a MAJOR deadline due on 3/18.
This will be assigned on 1/18, giving students two months to complete the project. This project will count as one test grade.

3.) Click this link Bullard's English Classes.
4.) Send a friend request.
5.) I will accept your friend request, then add you to the appropriate section.

See you there!

I typically update grades on PowerSchool each Friday. Please routinely check your young person's English grade and please remind them to speak with me should there be any questions or concerns.

NewsELA is the website students use for informational text reading. This is where students may find current articles in Science, History, and Art. Please visit my website for instructions on student access and NewsELA assignments.

I typically post all vocabulary terms on Quizlet. This is a free website where students may review vocabulary prior to their vocabulary test. All students have been given instructions on how to access this information in Quizlet.
