Ms. Kranzush's Kinders
May and June 2016
Your Kid is Amazing
Can you believe it is the end of the year?! It feels like I just met your kids at open house and now they are leveling up to first grade. I wanted to take a moment to tell you how great each and every child in our room is. They have worked extremely hard over the last 9 months to challenge themselves and have risen to the occasion every time. I recently finished grading their end of the year writing assessments and was blown away by the growth they've all made in handwriting and storytelling. Each child can read; each child understands and can manipulate numbers. More importantly, each child supports and encourages one another, creating a great place to learn. I'm am proud of your creative, tenacious, silly, dedicated, and adventurous child. I hope you are, too.
1st Grade Teachers
We kinder teachers create the first grade classes prior to the year ending, but this information will not be available to you until September Open House. We take a lot of things into consideration when creating classes, including student strengths, areas of growth, behaviors, student relationships, student/teacher personalities, and many other factors. Pine Ridge listens to parent input about what their child needs to thrive in school, but we do not accept requests for specific teachers. Rest assured that every first grade teacher is wonderful and you'll love whoever your child gets.
This is one of my favorite pictures from this year. With 10 minutes to fill before moving on to our next project in the woods, the kids independently pulled together a few logs, collected wood for a "bonfire and s'mores" and organized a storytelling session filled with fairytales. "Once upon a time...."

Journaling
Scientists keep track of their information in journals, so we do, too.

The kindergarteners will be performing their end of year concert on Thursday, June 2nd in the gym. The concert will start at 5:30. Students should report to their classroom at 5:15 and parents/guests can head to the gym. After the concert, you can meet your child back at our classroom to celebrate all the awesome art they've created this year as well as take home kid work we've collected throughout the year.

Family Forest Day
We have over 130 kindergarten parents joining us for Family Forest Day! The kids can't wait to share everything they've learned with you. If you aren't able to make it, we have members of Bend La Pine Administration that will serve as buddy for your child. You'll get more reminders as the day gets closer, but please plan to be at school with your child at 9am. We will leave as soon as we take attendance and load up the buses. Lunch will be provided (if you rsvp'd for one) but please remember to bring a water bottle with you. (The lodge will be available for refilling water bottles.) Stay tuned for more information soon!
Lost and Found
If your child is missing anything, please find a time to look in the lost and found. Anything left at Pine Ridge after school is out for summer will be donated to GoodWill. Lost and Found is located on the intermediate side of the school by the back doors.
Lunch Money
If your child gets school lunches, please make sure there is enough money to cover the end of the year. At this point in the year, we cannot run a negative balance and the "alternate lunch" is pretty lame. Thanks!
