Team 6-2 Scores Awards, Grant Funds for Service Project
Math Teacher Susan Cosby was recognized last night at the Keller ISD Board of Trustees meeting for the IT'S Award - Innovative Teachers Inspiring Students. The award is bestowed upon a Keller ISD teacher each month to recognize outstanding work providing innovative and engaging learning experiences for students.
Science/Social Studies Teacher Kathy Cundiff nominated Mrs. Cosby for the award, citing Cosby's enthusiastic integration of the Engage Learning Model and her collaborative work on a student yard design project with Matt Blashaw of HGTV and DIY Network's Yard Crashers television series. With the IT'S Award, Mrs. Cosby will receive $500 to put toward class projects.
English Language Arts Teacher Grant Simpson was surprised last Friday with a visit from the Keller ISD Education Foundation Prize Patrol, including the Timber Creek High School Drum Line, several KISD administrators, Education Foundation leaders, and KISD Board Members. On behalf of Team 6-2, Mr. Simpson had submitted an Innovative Learning grant proposal entitled "The Education of Giving."
The $2000 grant will fund a spring project in philanthropy during which students on Team 6-2 will work collaboratively to imagine, design, and start a non-profit organization that will address a global issue close to their hearts.
Congratulations to these innovative, student-centered teachers for their district-wide recognition and for successfully acquiring funds to support a learning experience that likely will change the lives of their students for the better!

We have begun to see some flu cases at Timberview. If your child has been diagnosed with the flu please notify the school nurse as she needs to report only numbers of cases to the state. Please review the attached flyers and the information below. Please call the school nurse if you have questions.
Please consider the following:
- Flu Vaccine is still the best protection against the flu. It is not too late! Please ask friends, family, patients, students and all to get the flu vaccine early.
- Decisions about starting antiviral treatment should not wait for the laboratory confirmation of influenza. Tamiflu and Relenza work best when started within the first 48 hours of symptom onset.
- Preventive health practices such as staying home when sick, keeping distance from symptomatic individuals, washing your hands often, covering your cough and sneezes are very effective social tools of reducing the spread of flu.
For more information, please visit www.cdc.gov/flu/
If your student needs an Epi pen, the following site offers you a copay card or coupon up to $100 off. https://www.epipen.com/en/copay-offer
