WALK UPS will not go to the blacktop. Those students and staff will wait inside the gym and caregivers will pick up at the back door to the gym near the entrance to 5th grade. There's an awning there where caregivers can wait if needed.

CAR RIDERS will wait under the front porch awning (if it's not raining too badly) or inside the front lobby area with our staff. Caregivers will drive up in the front circle drive as they normally do and our staff will walk students to their cars and help them get inside safely.

BUS RIDERS will follow their regular dismissal plan and staff will ensure they get to their buses safely. Please keep in mind that during bad weather the bus routes might be delayed. Transportation communicates with families in the event this occurs. We also encourage you to utilize the WheresTheBus app. Austin ISD Transportation offers the WheresTheBus app to provide families with timely information about the location of each child’s bus, including when it will arrive at their stop.
The app is free to AISD families whose children ride the bus. The app is available on any device with Internet access (smartphone, tablet, personal computer, iPod)—and takes less than five minutes to install. AFTER CARE students will follow their regular dismissal plans. Caregivers will pickup from their respective after care programs.

WALKERS/BIKERS will follow parents' wishes during bad weather. If you want your child to have an alternate dismissal plan in the event of inclement weather, please communicate that with your child's teacher as soon as possible so everyone is prepared in advance.

We know that changes in plans, and especially things like dismissal during bad weather, can be difficult. In our experience, the dismissal process gets smoother and faster each week that we're in school. We appreciate your patience and hope the bad weather updates are helpful.
