What is witchcraft?
- The practice of, and belief in, magical skills and abilities that are able to be exercised individually by designated social groups or by people with the necessary esoteric secret knowledge.
- In many cases witches were thought to control people by causing them fits or hallucinations.
- witch craft is satanic, or worship of the devil.
Impact of witch hunts
- Overall between 35,000 and 100,000 people were executed.
- Fear was the main impact of witch hunts.
- Property value also plummeted because many people moved away.
What happened to witches
- Many witches were hung.
- Usually they were convicted due to the actions of their victims in court.
- Witches were not only women, many were men and one was even crushed to death.
