MESSAGE FROM MRS. FURMAN
As many of you already know, last week we held our School Competition for this year's Book Bowl. We hosted 3 rounds in the school cafeteria with 5th graders and 4th graders as spectators. Of course, I wish that every student could win because they all worked so hard. The One and Onlys were the PES School Champions. On Tuesday night, they competed against the 3 other elementary schools in the district. Our team did fantastic but the District Winner was Middlebury Elementary School. Congratulations to them and all the students that participated. Thank you to all the families and staff members that came out to support us! And a special thank you to Mrs. Mastropietro!
During yesterday's lockdown drill, the students and staff did a fantastic job staying safe and following our district procedures quickly and quietly, just as they have done during our monthly fire drills.
I would like to thank the Rotary Club of Woodbury, Southbury, and Middlebury for donating Dictionaries!
Just a friendly reminder that the lane in front of the school is for buses only. Please do not drive in the bus lane, it is very unsafe.
We are still seeing COVID cases throughout the school district. Please continue to COVID test if your child is exhibiting ANY symptoms (including congestion, runny nose, coughing/ sneezing, GI symptoms or fever). If your child has pending PCR test results, please keep your child home until the results are obtained. Thank you for your help in keeping our school community safe and healthy!
Have a safe and healthy spring recess!
Sincerely,
Stephanie Furman
Principal

PLACEMENT INPUT FOR THE 2022-2023 SCHOOL YEAR!
As we approach the end of the school year, one of our most important responsibilities is to place our children in new classes for next year. Our staff will review the educational needs of every child in order to provide the best instructional placement for all children. It is a complicated process that we take very seriously.
Although teachers and other staff have closely observed your child in the classroom environment, this is your opportunity to share information from a parent’s perspective. If you have information that you would like to share with us as we go through the placement process, please complete this google form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf3hWD-XH6ZuNIL7q1OkRJ9GPgrf_uG3G0EPKWbu1uiN_aMSg/viewform?vc=0&c=0&w=1&flr=0
ON OR BEFORE FRIDAY, April 29, 2022.
Here are some important guidelines:
This form is optional. Our staff will look at each child’s individual needs whether or not you submit a letter.
This is not a request for a specific teacher, nor is it a request for your child to be placed with their friends.
Please do not call staff about progress in the placement process or seek information about placements prior to the letters being sent out before the next school year.
Final placement rests with the administration and staff and is based upon many variables. However, if you would like to contribute input to the placement process, it is important to take advantage of this opportunity.
